it's speculation but as mentioned... the timeline and facts seem to add up to the ncaa knowing more about this than we thought they knew... either that or they just believed the book with no proof.
To be honest, if Pitino doesn't survive this it would mean the NCAA came down pretty hard on them. I would also have to think Jurich would be out as well. So forget anyone tied to Pitino. It would probably be someone up and coming and clean as a newborn baby's butt.

Just got blacklisted at their site for the third time. All I did was tell them that it is logical to assume Pitino is in trouble, and they called me names and I didn't respond.
Billy Donovan just took a good NBA job, and it's obvious that this was his ultimate goal. Louisville will try to make a splash. They might inquire about Donovan, but he would be out of his mind to leave a good NBA job to insert himself into the mess in Louisville. They may inquire on Gregg Marshall and Mike Brey, but those guys would be nuts to leave their current jobs for Louisville under these circumstances. They may inquire about Kenny Payne, but I don't see how that can work now. And this is their problem. Louisville has a proud basketball tradition, but this scandal will trash it. Pitino will be forced out in disgrace. I don't see how Jurich can survive. But if Jurich does survive, the taint of scandal will remain. And if he doesn't survive, then there will be a lot more uncertainty in the situation their next coach must accept. Either way, the stature of the Louisville head coaching job is about to take a big hit. They will have to offer a huge amount of money and security as an incentive to snare their next coach. They either have to catch a rising star with a clean slate, or they have to bring in a veteran with a big rep who will accept the challenge of the cleanup. In the latter case, they might even have to offer the AD and head basketball coach jobs to the same guy. I don't overestimate the pull of the Louisville job under these circumstances. I don't know who will agree to put themselves in the middle of a mess like this, but it could be someone looking for a fresh start.

When the Sypher incident blew up, I thought, wow, if this story was the product of a trash novel writer, I would dismiss it as too outrageous. A head coach having sex on a restaurant table with the assistant looking on, admitting to a 15 second discharge down the leg, abortion, marrying the equipment manager? I mean really how do you top that?? Oh, with nappy ho sex parties for minors in the dorm paid for by the UL coaching staff of course. Silly me. Makes me wonder what's coming next.

True, but at least in part that's just a reflection of the stature of the two programs. Everything UK does is big news - ESPN seems like a UK infomercial. People in Louisville like to pretend they are near equals, and they simply aren't. National interest is one way they aren't equals. If not for Louisville's run from 2011-2014, they're DePaul..

or should I say the UL recruiting manual? Plenty of violations, and illegal activity to go around. I do not see how they cannot lower the boom on UL, and not sure if Rick survives this. McGee may be indicted. Let me list the different illegal tactics noted in the book.
1. Sex for recuits and fathers
2. Money to the recruits, to give to dancers/hookers
3. Tickets traded for sex
4. Providing alcohol for recruits
5. Providing minors with alcohol
6. Trafficing in sex with and for minors
One thing that really stuck out was when she talked about how a lot of these boys were inexperienced and felt uncomfortable having relations with these hookers, and yet they felt pressured into it, because they didn't want to appear "soft". She spoke about how they hid one kid, who was in a bedroom with 2 girls, from his mother. She also talked about a "party" with a cop, so I guess we see how it was investigated. Talked about how they lured Rozier to UL, with sex, at least I am assuming, since it was Terry from Cleveland. This is a great read, and you will enjoy it. After all is said and done, there will be plenty of retribution for all the athletic dept. What a deserving bunch.

You really think traditional Medicare has fewer benefits than MA? Are you under the impression that Humana only sells MA in Kentucky, or is there something uniquely stupid about seniors in this state? And maybe you can explain why you'd spend $37 billion go thru the time and expense to integrate and then "divest" soon thereafter?

If somebody in the media worth a damn could do some poking around to see just how deep the rabbit hole goes in terms of who in law enforcement and the local media knew, and whether or not they were manipulated by the university to keep it hush...

The "Academic" side of things has lawyered up in order to investigate itself. The Athletics dept clearly cannot be trusted to investigate itself so the Foundation is doing the same thing. It is fairly obvious that they are doing so...in hopes of finding no wrong doing...but once the dirty details are uncovered there will likely be many heads to roll. One very expensive head is Pitino who has a very long contract with the university. To terminate this contract they will need to prove NOT that Pitino knew about the payments to hookers etc....but that his basketball program has brought damage upon the reputation of the university. That is obviously the case here. So in order to not pay Pitino MILLIONS by firing him....they will need evidence to support the damage this incident is bringing to the University's standing.
Further...the allegations include acts of sex with minors, prostitution etc.... despite what the NCAA finds, the University itself is open to millions and millions in civil damages to the recruits who were invited guests of the program...and were given alcohol and sex etc... Again, the University must investigate itself to know exactly what cans of worms they are exposed to by the scandal, protect itself and of course to settle out of court where ever possible.

Thought the same thing. Maybe you use that in a story, but it isn't a story by itself.
Sorry, I guess I should have put this in the other thread. Far be it from me to keep it from getting to a quarter of a million views, in just over a week, but, the book had so much more illegal activity than I anticipated, I thought it deserved its own thread. It is really hard to believe that went on, for 4 years, and nobody squealed, especially when so many students knew about it, and thought it to be common knowledge. Anyway, merge away, I am okay with it.
