Final decision from NCAA should be early summer. Then, based on the ruling, UL will probably appeal. Don't know how long the appeal process is. I hope they get hammered.

You know, I had about talked myself into some hope that the NCAA might actually do something significant here. I mean, a staff member buying hookers for recruits. Call me old fashioned, I guess.

But I was just on the WDRB website, and read a story about UofL responding last week to the Notice of Allegations. I see this paragraph:

"In response to the allegations, a joint statement from then-acting president Nevile Pinto and then athletic director Tom Jurich, said, “"The NOA does not contain an allegation that Coach Pitino had knowledge of what took place in the dormitory. The NCAA does not allege a 'lack of institutional control' at Louisville, a very severe allegation. The NCAA does not allege that there was a 'failure to monitor' against the institution, also a severe allegation. The NCAA does not allege that Coach Pitino 'failed to promote an atmosphere of compliance,' a serious allegation. The NOA does contain a narrower allegation -- which we will dispute -- that Coach Pitino failed to demonstrate that he monitored McGee. We believe that McGee acted furtively and note that the NOA does not indicate that any other university employee besides Mr. McGee had knowledge of these activities. We are confident in Coach Pitino and we know he is and always has been committed to NCAA compliance. The entire episode is a deep disappointment to all of us who love this university.”"

Now, of course Jurich will paint things in the best possible light - but still. No allegation that:

  • the coach knew what was going on
  • there is a lack of institutional control
  • there was a failure to monitor
  • there was a failure to promote an atmosphere of compliance
There will be no hammer.

So.....

"U of L acknowledged that “the only conclusion that can be drawn is that McGee arranged the dances, offers and sexual activity to assist in the University’s recruiting efforts."

but

"Pitino fostered a culture of NCAA compliance within the basketball program and exercised appropriate supervisory oversight of McGee."

Someone needs a dictionary.

“the only conclusion that can be drawn is that McGee arranged the dances, offers and sexual activity to assist in the University’s recruiting efforts. However, the University does not believe these dances or sexual activities greatly assisted its recruiting efforts.”

Just because you don't think it helped in your recruiting doesn't make it any less repulsive.....UOLOLOLOL!

How about the donkey show? Did that help with recruiting efforts?

They had recruits testify that they like UL but did not go there because of this.

Now you want me to believe that more than one recruit did not call Pitino or any of the other Assistants and give them the reason they did not get picked.

Sounds logical. If of course you use UL logic.

UL says the actions were appalling but the value of the benefits were not a large amount. I guess they think they shouldn't be punished because they hired cheap hookers.

Yep, using UL "logic," paying a recruit $20,000 directly is WAY worse than "only" paying $5,000 to a prostitute to have sex with a recruit.

Now that defense, I expected. Let me translate.

'The moral and medical well being of these kids has NO tangible or discernable value to UL or the NCAA'.

That's what they are expecting the NCAA to buy into. Moms and dads, why would you EVER send your kid to school there.

Yes that is the Louisville way. Didn't Jurich say the same thing about wakey leaks? Yes we received some plays they might be running but they didn't even run the plays so there was no advantage gained on our end, blah, blah, blah......

There's no reason for the NCAA to not throw the book at UofL. Does any intelligent rational person really think Andre McGee really was the guy that orchestrated this scandal by himself? UofL said PItino exceeded expectations for monitoring the basketball program lmao. What a pathetic laughable defense they have. Seriously they should lose the title for being so arrogant and unwilling to come me clean.

Pitino knew about all of it. He is a pathological liar and was going to do anything including cheating to keep up with Cal.

From the link this jewel:
"Among the university’s additional arguments for a mitigated case:
• The individual dollar amounts identified in the transactions with the strippers and dancers were primarily in the two-figure or low three-figure range, which is more in line with secondary violations than major violations."

So UL admits they used cheap hookers so it is not really that bad.

And this:
"• Regarding Pitino’s role, Louisville argues that “no amount of reasonable oversight would have detected McGee’s furtive activities,” and thus “no violation of the head coach legislation occurred.”"
