Hello friends. Bet you thought I was gone? Can I say bet?

Anyway, I will stay with this thread until - to be determined

For 2025 here we go.

1 - That Maine South got Southed
2 - That Warren can still run the ball and Aaron Stewart is pretty good
3 - That Lincoln Way football is good - pick one.
4 - That something has happened to Rock Island.
5 - That Plainfield Central, Lanphier, East Aurora and Joliet Central all won on the same night.
6 - That PR is A-OK and CG is too!
7 - That sometimes coaches outsmart themselves - ESL - discuss
8 - That the ain’t over til it’s over award goes on the road to Mt Carmel and Loyola
9 - That the hurry up and kick it play may become a thing - DGN does it well.
10 - That Bolingbrook is in need of an intervention.

That’s all for now!

A new low in sportsmanship was seen. During a pre-game Friday I saw a jersey lifted up unusually high. Upon seeing the player turn around, a lower back protection was showing with an easily readable large printed sticker displayed in highly visible lime and black coloring. It was, "YOU SLOW AF," which I took to be translated to, "YOU (ARE) SLOW A(S) F(*#K)." C'mon coaches (and parents/guardians) - WAKE UP! I sense an official started to catch on toward the end of pre-game, but not with any accountability for the offender or his team.

11) That Fenwick still looks formidable despite losing several key players from last year, including a couple of guys now on Big Ten teams. Quite an impressive victory on the road over last year's 4A champs.

Small sample size, but Brook should be just fine if HF is the best team we see all year like they were last year.

Too small of a sample size, it's only been one game. The first couple Morris/CC games were good too.
Maybe. I already have previously mentioned that Morris would almost always be the favorite, but that game was closer than almost everyone expected. Morris returned something like 14 starters from a semifinal team. Wilmo always has high expectations, but they did not have a high number of returning players, and from what I understand, they were missing two starters on the line.

I’m not sure if this was a one game deal, or if it was a home and home, but I’d like to see the series continue for at least the short term.
For Morris: Even though they will probably face only one other team that plays a somewhat similar style to Wilmo, at least they will get 7-8 playoff points. If Morris does go 4A, they might face more similar teams. 5A, probably not.

Anyway, I thought it was great, despite the Wilmo loss. A playoff atmosphere in week 1. Game was already hyped up, but it exceeded expectations.

You have knowledge of this or just your opinion?
It's pretty much common knowledge. I don't anticipate them prolonging their teaching/admin career just to coach. Reents may stay to coach after he is retired from the principal's office, but that has not been officially decided. I asked him about this a year or so ago and he gave a very Jeff like answer of "we'll see if they ask me back", or something similar to that.

As you know we also talk to Jeff a lot and we get pretty much the same response.

That Quincy, in the post Bradyn Little era, had it's first date with reality i
All.... According to this article they have lost a ton on offense. Sounds like Hunter didn't do terriible . Massey still has them taking the next eight among several that will be sure wins. That Little kid who graduated was a heck of a gamer. Is he playing college ball? Ratsy

13) That jumping 43 spots all the way to #12 is doable. As per MaxPreps.

Why do you hate that?
1) Because there should be a place for amateur athletics to exist in this world.
2) Because the NIL money is a reflection of a closed market, not player ability.
3) Because the number one reason for the popularity of college football is the huge number of alumni the major programs have.
4) Because the number two reason for the popularity of college football is the ability of fans to wager on the games.
5) Because the number one reason for team success is related to coaching rather than players.
6) Because the number two reason for team success are the facilities the major programs can offer.
7) Because society would be better served if the huge revenues college football generates would be spent on educational scholarships.
8) Because the game would have been better served had Congress allowed the NCAA to place a soft cap on coaching salaries.

Why the above reasons?

1) Amateur athletics allows for greater participation in more sports, which is good for the students.
2) In a relatively open market, such as the NFL, the true value of the players' abilities is revealed, which is minimum wage. Few make NFL rosters.
3) If the popularity were related to player ability, then college baseball and hockey and wrestling would be generating huge revenues.
4) Same as 3).
5) When an outstanding coach leaves a major program, success often suffers. When players leave, the program reloads.
6) Excellent facilities can benefit all students.
7) The societal purpose of universities is to educate students. It is good for the students and good for society.
8) Not-for-profit organizations should not be paying individual employees millions of dollars per year. That means someone is profiting off the not-for-profit status.
9) Society benefits from educated citizens.

While I don't disagree with most of what you wrote, there are upsides to it as well, Specifically, for lower level/non FBS schools athletes looking to make a move up, which is what the OP was referencing.

Proving yourself and gaining experience at a D2 school and moving up to a better opportunity with more resources IMO isn't something to "hate the world" about. NIL and the Transfer Portal isn't only about the highest-level guys making lateral moves for more money.
