Pretty high level of football for a week 2......

1 - That Maine South found out what it's like to get Maine South'd
2 - That the HF offense doesn't need to be seen to be believed - they are that good.
3 - That If you don't know Jack, you need to know Jack Sorenson
4 - that the resiliency heart and character of the Lincoln Way North kids is an example for us all.
5 - That traditional powers Providence, Lake Zurich, and Wheaton South are in deep trouble early
6 - That maybe just maybe the MSL West may have something - Fremd, Conant, Barrington all 2-0.
7 - That Zion and Mundelein are 2-0 and Lake Zurich and Warren aren't - cats and dogs living together in the NSC.
8 - That the heat and BBQ smoke of the East Side gave Montini super human powers.
9 - That New Trier looks ready - at least for now anyway, to send the South winning streak - South.
10 - That GI Joe was is and always will be a hero to all.

What I learned was the Vern Pottinger offense has made its way back to the city of Belvidere. Only bad thing is that this time it's North that is playing old school Belvidere football. But I guess it's good to see at least one Belvidere school is using the successful offense.

That the ESCC represented themselves well against CSS teams that were probably favored over them going into the week .

JCA's defensive line is strangely good. Strangely was the only word i could think to describe it. the pressure they put on QBs is as good as i have seen in a long time. WN and PC are off to slower starts, but they are both still good programs and teams.

I'd bet WN and PC's first downs combine to something near ten. Both teams scored to make the game close of !) a long kick off return; then 2) a long play. From the JCA perspective, I'm fine with that.

What bothers me is thinking about approximately 7 season's where JCA had a top 5 offense in the state, but a bottom half defense....aye

Cap, i think he was he injured? Fact is GBW nearly lost the game. GBW trailed 3 quarters. I guarantee Hetlett is ticked and the boys are going to have a tough week of practice. Yes we had the best 4 minutes of play I have ever seen, which saved the day, but let's move on.

The unthinkable could be happening-no LZ football in November?

In 09 I remember LZ being 2-3 but then battled through it to become a feared, tough as nails team that made it to the semi finals and lost to an undefeated GW in the final seconds. That tough as nails attitude has been on the decline last year and this year, so far, for some reason. Hats off to Cary Grove and its coaches though--when LZ's defense was stacked in the middle to stop the fullback, CG pitched the ball outside and threw passes and made LZ pay for it.
