After a short hiatus, I am back in some capacity.

So let’s do this thing.

1 - That the apparent demise of the Catholic league has been put on hold.
2 - That whoo boy, the NSC is, welp, not so cool. Unless your Zion or Mundelein of course
3 - That team will think long and hard about road tripping to Rochester
4 - That ESL and MC learned why they play 4 qtrs just for different reasons.
5 - That Lena may not be Lena until Lena is Lena again.
6 - That Evanston - we see you.
7 - That the old LWE-HF rivalry looks to be a thing again - at least for this week.
8 - That SHG isn’t the SHG of old
9 - That Sandburg might be a thing
10 - That, for this week, Loyola is the best we got in Illinois.

That’s all for week 2.

I am perplexed as to why SHG quarterback thought it was a good idea to go long down field and force the throw into a pick rather than tuck it and go for the first down. The field was wide open for him. That level of ego will get them destroyed when they play Rochester 🏈 in week eight. The Rochester 🏈 defensive backs were impressive in containing Batavia’s D1 quarterback.

St. Rita, with their difficult schedule, can win the close ones (GBW obviously not 100% though). I would have them in my Chicagoland Top 10 this week. Should be a good one this Friday at Loyola.

DePaul and Lane Tech need to keep playing annually. The schools are right next to each other, DePaul has a great stadium, and Lane Tech Stadium is a historic spot. The game sold out before game day at DePaul this year and had a good atmosphere despite a 6-0 final Friday night.

Morgan Park is probably the #1 CPL team right now with their performance over Niles ND yesterday. We'll see if this holds when they start facing other CPL teams in a couple weeks.

Saint Patrick offense is legit. Their defense does not seem to be playing up to their potential just yet. They should start 4-0 before a big four-week test of Mt. Carmel (at home), huge rivalry game at ND, home vs. JCA, then at Naz. If the offense keeps clicking the defense keeps getting better don't be surprised if they go 3-1 in that stretch.

The way things have gone so far, I wouldn't be surprised to see every Catholic League team with at least one less come playoff time.

Fenwick should be grateful for Jake Thies still being around. If it wasn't for his efforts Friday night at OPRF, the Friars easily could've lost. Still believe once Fenwick’s inexperienced players get more reps, this team will be dangerous come playoff time. But anytime you can learn from mistakes (they had plenty Friday night) after a win is a good thing. That's their championship culture that Matt Battaglia has established.

On the other hand, I like OPRF. Sure, Thies broke off a couple of big runs, but he's a POY candidate so he'll do that against a lot of opponents. What impressed me most about the Huskies was they didn't back down from the Friars. They stayed toe-to-toe with them and TBH had it not been for a couple of costly errant snaps by the center (each time OPRF had 1st and goal from the Fenwick 5, once in the first quarter and again in the fourth), they could've won that game. Liam Brown looks solid at QB, and Liam Smith remains steadily consistent at RB/LB. Plus OPRF's defense is really flying around this year and making plays (Niko Vielehr had a 45-yard interception return which set up OPRF's go-ahead touchdown right before halftime). If the Huskies can consistently compete at that level in the WSC Silver, I'm not saying they'll win the division, but they won't be the pushovers they've been the past few years.

I made a comment about my doubts as to the intellect of throwing into double coverage. And given the fact there was open field on the way to another 1st down and plenty of time on the clock....I am perplexed as to why that would be low intellect. Unless your comment was directed towards the other commenter of SHGs result from Saturday. If your comment was in my direction, please enlighten me on the low intellectual capacity of taking an easy first down with plenty of time left as opposed to throwing into the middle of the field with two corners and a safety over the top.

All.... Why cigaros the bigger question is why you feel the impulsive overwelming need to respond to me at all. More ironic when you are unsure my comment might not of been directed your way. Figure it out although likely it will take a day or so. lol Ratsy

No idea of the context, but Brett Favre made a HoF career out of throwing into double coverage

I thought you posting your critique of SHG’s QB intellect in this thread was distasteful.

MC's Marshaun Thorton is the best WR in IL.....so far....The catches he has made against the defenses he's faced have been eye opening.

Staying on MC topic, after Nationally ranked opponents two weeks in a row, you would hope for a break but MC now gets Naz......then Marist....then later @ BR....then Providence....finsh @LA...."break in the schedule game" is @Pats and JCA which will never lay down to anyone. After this schedule which I can't find anyone having a harder, if they are fortunate enough to win State they will have earned it but some will still say otherwise.

The players on these Public schools teams want to play Private School teams....they consider it a challenge, they take offense to anyone who tells them they can't win and it's a driving force for them to ball out....and it's been showing so far this season and I think it's great. If these games are taken away most players will be upset....let the schools let the players vote and see what they say.

Don’t see anyone challenging MC til Rice, then maybe Rambler. Game fri one of the best games I have seen. Thornton is ridiculous. Not a fan of Coach Lynch’s tight pants, though he has them rolling now!

Huh? ESL made a comeback and took it to OT.

FLA football is much greater than Indiana. And Warren is 0-2.
Didn’t ESL have a lead at one point?

We know how you are. You’re literally the dude who got mad and all up in his feelings last year when you went to an opposing filed and set up shop where the home cheerleaders usually stage themselves on game day. So stop being a grown *** baby. Grow up geezer

Interesting comparison as he holds the record for most interceptions thrown all time. He also went to Southern Miss. Which ties directly to SHG as they also sent a QB to Southern Miss.

His word would be heard and respected but he didn't face ESL or St. Joseph's secondary, so I'm giving the early season nod to Thorton
Konkey is a burner, state champ in the hundred meter and seven TDs in two games. He's also faced quality competition in Oswego. But Thornton, with five TDs this season, has been making spectacular, acrobatic grabs in heavy traffic. And he's not the only good receiver on the team, sharing the ball with at least five others. Plus, he's only a junior.
