What do all those stars mean?

Check this out.

Of the 44 starters in the Super Bowl yesterday, 22 of them were non 5-star recruits.

Your MVP Rankings

MVP - Rodgers - JUCO Transfer
2nd MVP Voting - JJ Watt, Wisconsin Walk-on
3rd MVP Voting - Tony Romo - D1AA Eastern Illinois.

With all the hype surrounding the next great 5 star recruit, remember, there are plenty of great football players that no on will ever recruit. Some far better than any of the supposed "5 star recruits."

Happy National Signing day.

On the flip side, 3 of 4 CFP teams were LOADED with solely 4 and 5 star talent, including OSU.

I am going to guess that Malcolm Butler, during his college career at D2 Western Alabama, did not play with or against a 3 or 4 star.

I'd guess somewhere in the conference is an Sec or ACC transfer.

On the err...ummm...hmmm...small side of the coin...a lot of those kids in the CFP were 4 or 5 star players because those schools were recruiting them...and not because they they were actually the best players. IMHO

There are also usually only 25-30 5*'s. I mean what's really the point here that odds are overwhelmingly in favor of non 5*'s?

Also you're not exactly telling the whole story. Your point is still valid but your facts are misleading. Yes Rodgers went JUCO but it's because he was 5'10" 160 as a SR. After one year he earned a scholarship to Cal amongst others. So he's a late bloomer, that'll happen. JJ Watt was in fact a scholarship player. In fact he transferred from CMU, yes he was a PWO at Wisconsin but he left a scholarship to go to Wisconsin and play DE since CMU moved him. Again another athletic late bloomer but it's his work ethic and non stop motor that have elevated his game to top defensive player in world levels, you can't measure those intangibles.

I agree here somewhat, but OSU has some of the nation's best players...

Means the same thing as rankings.

Nothing.

Look at Seattle's line up. Lots of mid round picks. Few #1's.

The experts are not so expert..
