What do you “waste” money on that makes you happy?

A couple of things for me really:

Books and graphic novels. Probably spend about 200-300 bucks a month on collecting. My reading has slowed down the last year due to work but my library keeps getting bigger. Nothing beats for me a book in hand on a lazy Sunday especially.

Dog toys. My dogs are spoiled rotten and have two boxes of toys but I’m always bringing home new ones or ordering from Chewy for them to play with. That first moment when I take one out of the bag and they get all excited gets me every time.

Cigars. A good cigar makes me happy. Fall night with some brown water and a Montecristo on the back deck is heaven to me.

German Beer. Not a beer snob but my current go to is Pauliner Salvator Double Bock. Worship.

Beer for me as well. If I'm out to eat and see something interesting, I'm going to get it. I've been to restaurants with a great selection and spent way more on beer than the food, and I'll have 4 as an absolute max. It's really my only no-guilt extravagance.

I agree that if it makes you happy it isn't wasted but golf is something I spend a lot of money on but I enjoy it and now that my 11 year old daughter has taken it up I enjoy getting out and playing even more.

Someone’s always going to point out something you enjoy and spend your money on and say “what a waste” and that’s what I was kind of getting at.

but those people are usually ******** so....

Bought an RV and rent a place on the lake right outside a marina. Then bought a boat and started to just put it in the water off the trailer. Ended up being too much of a pain to do, so I leased a boat slip as well. I guess you could say it's wasting money, but we go up several times a month at least and my wife mellows out when shes up there.

Clothes and shoes. I probably have about 20-25 pairs of shoes, mostly Nike, several that I haven't worn yet. And I probably don't go a month without buying a new shirt at some point. I have a hard time finding shirts that fit properly and have the length I need, so my recent kick is buy graphic tees overseas from the UK.

I probably own anywhere from 40-60 discs for playing disc golf. They're not that expensive, and it's a cheap sport to get into really, but there are so many different brands, feels, and molds of disc out there it can get obsessive.

I've backed off of it, but last year I got into vinyl after setting up some old Technics speakers from the late 70s that sat in a spare room at my parent's house for decades. I now mainly just use it to stream Spotify from my phone when I want to chill, but pouring through stacks of vinyl looking for finds is pretty fun.

Betting on horse racing. I’ve had some really good days but overall I’m down lifetime by a few thousand. But I enjoy the hell out of it. My worst beat. Saratoga empire 5. Last race. 9 horse field, I had 4 horses that were paying 11 grand on the low end and 19 grand on the high end. My horses finish 2,3,4 and 5. Took me weeks to get over that one.

Yeah. Bike gear.

Upgrading the whip this year though. Canyon.

Canyon's are really nice. Economy ever picks back up and I might make that leap too. Did a big tour last year and went with a gravel bike. While I'm glad I have one, the thing is a tank and I'd love to get something quick and nimble in the arsenal.

Brother I hear ya, I have had countless beats like that, none is harder than running 1,2,3,5 on a super.

I have made up new curses over that crap.
