What does this win do for Stoops?

Vandy lost to UF by 7 and held them to 13 points. This football team has improved and if not for Barker going down we would be putting up points like we did the first half of the Southern Miss game.

Barker won't be the answer to win more games or put more points on the board. Johnson was the answer a few weeks back and everyone was all in on him. We struggle to throw the ball and now we want Barker. Our opponents will blitz every down and keep him on his back....wait and see

It doesn't matter. He's not the answer for Uk to become a contender for the east. Maybe he gets to 6 wins at some point, but this is a sad sorry *** excuse of expectations for an SEC program.
Making ish up that that's the expectation of the UK FB program as if it's for all time is total bs. Given where we are now with a backup, last-minute QB get, I'm all in that 6-6 in 2016 is a good outcome. But that's not the ongoing expectation.

Ever since that point it has been improvement on defense and what does it say about UF that they only beat Vandy by 7 if us beating them by 10 was squeaking by?

We did not struggle to beat Vandy and even though they marched down the field really twice in the whole freaking game...how many offensive touchdowns did they have? If not for Boom's fumble this would have been a 23-6 or 27-6 game.

We beat them by 7 not 10. Didn't you see them drive right down the field with multiple chances to tie it at the end? We were lucky to not get intercepted at least 2 more times. Plus we are fortunate their running back left the game with an injury. He was starting to run it down our throats. The game could have turned out much different.

Boom's fumble was on our side of the field and there was no guarantee we would have scored if he didn't fumble. So it is hard to say the score could have been more lopsided. If he fumbled at like their 20 yard line after driving down the field then you could possibly have a point. Not when we had like 70+ yards to go. This game could have went to overtime and if that isn't struggling to beat them then I don't know what you think struggling is.

It likely saved his job. I think that if we had finished 3-9 then Mitch would've had no choice but to let him go. But assuming we get at least 4 wins (real good chance of 5) then he's safe.

Guys we won, and the defense looked good. Just enjoy the win. I have seen improvement in our defense, and I'm sure most of you have. We have three good RB's, and I think we have 18 or 19 of our starters back next year.
I thought Coach Stoops should be fired if we didn't go bowling, but if the defense continues to improve, with the present QB situation, I can see him getting another year.

OLD STOLL FIELD GUY!
I sure hope he doesn't get another year due to wins like this. I'm not blasting the players but rather the coaching and I think two plays in particular stick out as examples that he doesn't have it together as a head coach. Both of the plays I'm talking about were 4th down plays with terrible time clock management. On the 1st they got the play off with only seconds left after standing around looking confused before lining up and snapping the ball; it appeared they were waiting to be told what to do from the sideline at the game, I don't know what it looked like on TV. The 2nd they did the same thing and got called for delay of game before kicking the last FG. It reminded me of when we only had 8 players on the field for a punt return against AUB last year. So many mental mistakes in the 2nd half by good football players can only be attributed to lack of discipline and fundamentals which points right to the top. AGAIN, NO BASHING OF THE PLAYERS, my beef is with Stoops & Co.

For Coach Stoops: It means survive and advance to the next "elimination game" against MSU....which IMO is the toughest of the "winnable" SEC games (with Mizzou also in the future).

CMS and the Cats are winning ugly (really really ugly).....but they're winning. And in the bottom-line business of CFB, winning is really all that matters. I'm not convinced we're decidedly better, but again style points don't count in the W/L column.

I have been as tough on CMS as anyone (more-so on AD), but If CMS gets through MSU and Mizzou....then it is "Hail the conquering hero" time in Lexington. And with a near sure win over Austin Peay.....UK gets to a minor bowl, and he gets another year (more unless the Cats collapse/regress next year).

As "Crash Davis" says...."You gotta take 'em one at at time." Coach Stoops is half way to four SEC wins. If he knows how to leverage a bye week (while MSU travels out and back to a fair BYU team), and the Cats come out sharp--he has every chance to win. If the Big Blue Cats lay an egg and lose at home to a down Mississippi State squad. The torches will be relit.
