What famous people have you met and how was the encounter?

Some posters were talking about this in a different thread and it was really interesting. Figured I would get a thread going on it to get some more of you crazy people involved.

So who have you met and how did you meet them? How awesome were they? Or, in most cases it seems, how big of a prick did they turn out to be?

Let’s hear it!

I met Peter Graves. It was at a Derby Dinner put on by Dismiss House Charities......he stood and chatted to the group of people that I was with for about 5-10 minutes after the dinner was over..........I was maybe 14.....he was a big guy....he was very tall.....

My wife who at one time was a waitress at Executive West in Louisville met a lot of celebrities when she worked there back in the day......she said the biggest *** hole she ever met was William Shattner......she said he would pick up the tab for his group and then not leave a tip....he would speak down to who ever was waiting him........just a complete jerk....

I know Chris Stapleton well. I graduated in 94 at PHS, he graduated in 96 from JCHS. He was one heck of a football player. Great guy. Haven’t talked to him in many years so I can’t say if the fame has changed him.

Know a bunch of MLB players from my time working in minor league front offices.

Best person: Blake Snell who just won the Cy Young. Joc Pederson is also a good fella but quiet

Biggest Douche: Andrew Toles, OF for LA Dodgers. Self entitled prick but I do have a funny story about him that isn’t appropriate for the board.

Also know a guy who was a detective in Breaking Bad, Robby Sanchez, fantastic dude

Calipari - Didn't get to talk much
Roy Williams - At an ice cream shop, of all places. Didn't seem to want the attention
Trump - Big ego but very cordial
Aaron Barrett - He was pretty nice

I didn't meet him, but my friend went to school with Bill Murray's son.

Have met Shattner a couple of times myself. One time at a county fair of all places. He definitely has that “I am very important” air to him. Wasn’t particularly rude, just kind of arrogant (not there is a huge difference).

Met Bill Dance about 22-23 years ago, major douchebag. He asked me an two of my friends for directions; we told him how to get to where he wanted to go. Before he left I asked for an autograph for my Papaw who was a big fisherman himself and I knew that would tickle him to death. He rudely said “no, I don’t have the time.” So Bill Dance is definitely a major prick in my book.

First time I met Billy D we were both on vacation with our respective families. Got on elevator together. I said, “hey coach, how ya feeling about this season?”

He looked at my UK hat and simply said, “call me Billy.”

Lol

We ended up having dinner (our two families) twice in the next 10 days.

He told me how it ends, I told him how I thought it should end. He liked my ideas and said he’d change to the drew_ukfan ending

Actually, not really. I told him I was a fan and then we talked about him throwing out the first pitch and New Mexico cause I was knew there at the time. It was like 3 minutes tops but still cool.

Question? Always had a theory that Billy D. would have loved to take over from Pitino but Rick kept him from taking the job. Think he did it again when he was at UL. Did he ever talk about turning us down twice? I know UK was interested. Had he followed Pitino I think he would still be the UK HC and have a couple titles.

He had to have been high as he'll when I met him. He had stopped by our building for interviews cuz he was in town that week for what was supposed to be a 4 day weekend show but he bailed a day early....the day I had tickets for. He had his shades on inside and was doing bicycle excersises on the ground just in the middle of the hallway with a few people hanging out.

I'd asked why bail early to his manager and Paulie replied with something along the lines of "tough luck" to me or something.... I forget word for word, I may have smoked a few myself since that day many years ago lol. But yeah, snob. Fame gets to a lot of people.

While I worked at the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command, one of my commanding Generals was Brigadier General Robert Stewart, the army astronaut who was the first man to do an untethered walk in space. He is a people person who loves technology. He would come into the work areas and talk to us physicists and engineers about the programs we were managing.
I once gave a briefing at a meeting where Lowell Wood, an associate of Edward Teller, was in attendance. He napped during some of the briefings so I am not sure he was awake during mine. Teller was the one who convinced Ronald Regan to start the program that became known as "Star Wars", and Wood was heavily involved In that program.

I’ve never really met any super famous people. A bunch of random, half famous people. Waka Flocka, all the Backstreet Boys, Diana Gabaldon (wrote the Outlander books). Nobody that I’m incredibly excited to have met. All were nice enough.
