I totally apologize for my post. I actually changed my mind and will support the Reds if the cardinals are not playing. Cincinatti is an awesome city and apparantly the people are super nice. Really like the stadium too, looks incredible.

Always did like Pete Rose.
The seats are Red. All of them! FCC is outdrawing them yet again on a bobblehead night. It's crazy!

Crowd announced at 22,532 at the FCC game and it's the smallest of the new season so far. I bet the Reds don't have 15k in attendance but when you finish last 4 years in-a-row, it's to be expected.

Could not even win the series at home against the Marlins who are just as bad as they are. This is beyond comical. A real **** joke!!! Just glad they did not bamboozled into a fast start in April and play piss baseball the other 5 months.

Devin Mesoraco traded to the Mets for Matt Harvey... Reds also sent cash considerations in this one paying the rest of Mesoraco's $13.2 million on the contract and the Mets paying Harvey's $5 million.

The Reds simply kill me though. Could have gotten Harvey off waivers being the worst team in baseball record wise putting them on top of the waiver order. Get Harvey for nothing.

Could have still dealt Mesoraco to New York to unload his $13 million left on the contract which would be the useful for a small market, rebuilding team. No, they send Mesoraco and $13 million to the Mets.

Did the same thing in the Brandon Phillips trade eating up $13 million sending him to Atlanta for absolutely no return. You want players like BP that are aging and expect give up nothing, any smart organization would force them to take on the salary.

A f****g dumb *** franchise ran by imbeciles. It's sad when the big moves made by the franchise are reclamation projects.

I'll just jump in 8-27. That's about as worst as I have seen it. I quit watching them. The franchise has given up on them, and so I have i

Geez whiz. It's like they are trying to out-Bungle the Bungles. I lost interest a long time ago, but it's sad to hear things are getting worse.

The Reds were such a big part of my youth, but other than taking visiting friends/family to see them just for the novelty of it... I don't even think about them, these days.

Running around Fountain Square with people waving brooms in the air... feels like that moment is just another b&w photo in some history book.

I'm no fan of Williams Jr. who was given the GM role by the skill of only his surname, but several teams reportedly were inquiring about Harvey despite how ineffective he's been. However, the money argument can definitely be made. At least we want them spending more on the right players. Time will tell.

Mesoraco wasn't replacing Barnhart any time soon. But with the Reds luck, Tucker will get a Desclafani, Bailey or Mesoraco-type injury in the not too distant future.

Johnny Bench, Tony Perez, Joe Morgan, Dave Concepcion, Pete Rose, George Foster, Cesar Geronimo & Ken Griffey, ain't walking through that door.

How about Aaron Boone, Barry Larkin, and say Danny Graves then?

Doesn't have to be the true Big Red Machine but how about competitive?

Good first impression of Matt Harvey on the mound in this one. Would've had a 4-inning no-hit performance if it wasn't for the Hamilton/Schebler Outfield blunder. He'll go longer than 4 going forward.

The Reds are just being who they are...a bunch of gutless, whiny losers, like most of their fanbase. This isn't the 70s kiddos...and 1990 is soon to be 30 years ago. I'm sorry for those that were born into being Reds fans.almost as bad as being a Cubs fan. At least they have won something this century though, but to be fair those not-lovable losers were well overdue. Being a Cardinals fan is the way to go guys. Join the winning circle.

To be blunt, go to the STL thread and FY.

I’m cheering for Matt Harvey. Every sports analyst brings up that Cinci doesn’t have the night life that NY did, but I don’t remember reading much about him being out of control either.

Maybe behind the scenes he had some issues, but I really want to see Cinci do well and be competitive as it brings on several opportunities for trips up to watch decent games.

And as a cub fan I’d say that idiot claiming last we won (1) this century the reds overall alhave enjoyed as much if not more success than us in the last 18 years too. But if it’s about rings maybe we shouldn’t be the big mouth fans either?

5 in a row, sure it's over the struggling Mets & Dodgers but it's not like past Reds teams were beating LA & New York good or bad. Enjoy it why they last. Just looking at the depth chart and if Cincinnati can get lucky to have a healthy Lorenzen/DeSclafani they can be a much better team going forward. They've played well ever since the Atlanta Series in April except letting a golden opportunity away vs Miami.

If sucking so bad to start get rid of Brian Price so be it, he was the worst manager the Reds have had in my life. He sucked and he was very arrogant about it. What a tool.

He was great at AAA here in Louisville. Helped a lot of the guys that came through on their way up or on the DL to get back to the majors over the years.

He never should have been promoted to the big club honestly.

Having won 6 straight, the Reds are the hottest team in baseball, and yet, still 9 games behind the 4th place Cardinals.

6 in a row is the first time since the 2013 season, Dusty's final year. Riggleman is a fine manager. Good strategist and holds players accountable, doesn't coddle them. Let us not forget he had the Nationals team above .500 without Bryce Harper yet and not too many years removed from their Expos days.

Today what is wrong with them is the fact that they forgot they were small market and hired an awful GM who likes to gut the farm for the big league club.

Just a few years ago they had possibly the best or most talented team in the playoffs.

To get there though they made a few awful decisions by trading for Mat Latos which they gave up a ton for including Grandal and Alonso both who start today for teams competing for a World Series.

They also decided to keep Votto when Alonso was a cheaper and very effective replacement, which votto has a contract that crippled a small market team.

Add to that they went with Homer Bailey over Cueto/Mike Leake.

They waited too long to move BP.

They gave up Jay Bruce and never really helped him improve the holes in his swing anyway.

On top of all of that they have drafted terribly.

So in the end they gutted the farm, signed the wrong big money contracts, then didn’t get great return on their talent they traded away.

Yep. They had some real talent, mismanaged it, lost a series they were up 2-0 in, sold and traded it and the farm, and have fallen off a cliff to arguably the worst team in MLB.

Baseball and the Reds were my first love. I was lucky enough to see the Big Red Machine win two series in a row in my time at UK, and partied in the streets in Cincy. They won another in ‘90 the year I moved back to Colorado, and CU won title in football. It’s like a slow death seeing the Reds sink to such a low place.

And to think Brandon Nimmo was going to be a Red in exchange for Jay Bruce. He's on fire for the Mets right now getting regular playing time. They backed out changing their mind on him I think because of an injury so instead took two dudes who have yet to make the big league with the Reds and Dilson Herrera actually played parts of 2 seasons with the Mets and was in the Futures game. No excuse on Herrera when it's been 3 or 4 years since he was playing at the MLB level and I've done forgot who the other player the Reds received in the Bruce deal.

^the immortal Max Wortell was the other guy in the Bruce trade.

An absolutely cluelessly run franchise.

I know it's beating a dead horse, can do this all forever with the franchise. The Reds should have held onto to Chapman while he was suspended and traded him later. The Yankees got him for a song and a dance from Cincinnati. They turned around and traded him after half a season for Gleyber Torres. Could've been Cincinnati. They either do not give a damn or are just that damn incompetent on how to run a winning franchise. Probably both. Definitely cheap. Small market excuse goes only so far with me.

About the only things they've done right in the past 5 years is firing Price, picking up Gennett off waivers, trading Alfredo Simon for Suarez, trading Mike Leake for Duvall and continuing to improve the stadium.

The drafting, player development, signing Mesoraco and Bailey to long term deals and firing Dusty Baker all helped put them in this hole. All I know is the 5 years of rebuilding hasn't worked in the W/L column.

Number of Reds Wins
2014- 76
2015- 64
2016- 68
2017- 68
2018- 21 in 58 games

Reds now have 38 wins after 87 games. 16-6 in the last 22 games. Only 2.5 games behind Pitt now. Although they've been known to tank after the All-Star break.

The Reds are a lot of fun to watch now. They got off to a horrendous start, but they have gotten guys healthy, and are now one of the best teams in the league.
