We were physical today, it was great to see! Solid, experienced, confident, poised, under control (for the most part) Brea has been a sharpshooter coming off the bench, insane. Great hands, plenty of shooters, got a lot of room to play much much better, too.

Stylistically, I love what I am seeing from Coach Pope, and how the guys are preparing for every player in every game. A beautiful thing to see happen here.

Duke is gonna get a game for sure.

The starting 5 are rock solid. Throw in Kriisa, Garrison, Almonor, Chandler, Noah .... it's a nice complimentary roster that can have 6 double figure scoring players per game and average 100+ as a team. Defensively, they'll be much better than last year. At least as good offensively as last year's team, and none of them returned.

That's exactly what we are.

I'm happy, Coach Pope has rejuvenated me !

I missed the first two games (yeah I know). How do we look so far? Who’s breaking your expectations? Who isn’t? Is Pope doing a good job?

This team is very aggressive offensively and defensively. They make getting good shots look easy. The offensive flow is elite. When UK misses shots, they're still good looks, and often come after one or two extra passes. Meanwhile, Oweh and Butler have combined to give us 4 steals/game, and they interrupt the opposing team's flow with abandon.

I think we have a complete team except for one type of player: we don't have an Alex Poythress-type who can defend the 3/4.

In tight games, that will cost us. Also, Garrison's offensive struggles are evident and I liked when Pope went small with Carr at the 5 instead of putting BG in there. My least favorite play is the isolation clear-out for Garrison on the low block. That six-foot pullup is brutal to watch.

Garrison needs to pass out of that more often than not, and he does need those shots to start falling. But, look at the rest of his stat line. He has played 38 minutes and has 9 rebounds, 8 assists, 0 turnovers, and is 4/4 from the free throw line.

I look for him to be used more in the pick and roll going forward. A wide open lane and his athleticism is a match made in heaven.

He also had a filthy block in the first few minutes of the game last night.
