Actual DIY. Made a sculpture when I was wasting my money in UK's fine art program. Got an A+.

Two dowel rods that sat down on a pair of rockers. Like a rocking chair. Then I had a dowel rod across the top. Like a playground swing. Essentially looked like a swing on a rocker. Carved a penis. Tied it with fishing line to top of dowel rod. So when you rocked the swing, the penis penetrated.

Teacher loved that one

Closest thing I can really say that was worth a damn was a pie safe for my mom that never baked anything.

Grandpa did all of it essentially. I guided the blade a few times with him hovering over me and retrieved wood from a pile but he put my name on the little plate he inscribed inside the thing. A Mother's Day present. He was amazing with that stuff.

My attempts at anything by myself are complete aborts despite "being an engineer." I embarrass us all.

I've made a lot of things over the years, of course they were all made from some type of metal.

I made myself a charcoal grill out of a stainless steel beer keg about 22 years ago. Mounted it on a steel frame with wheels. Still got it; I've had several people want to buy it over the years.

I've probably grilled on it 6-700 times, and with it being stainless it will practically last forever.

I "made" a video production set for my buddy's online concern.

I designed it and drew up the shop fabrication drawings. Then, another buddy milled it for me at a shop.

It was a pretty simple kit-of-parts, so my friend was able to assemble it himself with an assistant.

They put up a time-lapse video which is pretty sweet:

The dry-fit of the pieces supported themselves. I left the tolerances to the guy who fabricated it. I drew everything to exact dimensions and he adjusted them to accommodate the fit. He added 1/64 of an inch to the outline of the "slot" of the blind rabbets and everything fit perfectly.

Alright. All put together and functional. Thought I could get away with not screwing it to the platform but not so. "A trip to Home Depot only ensures another trip to Home Depot."

Came out pretty good. Decided on single, three screw corner brackets but should have gone with two, single screws in each corner to pull it square. Still pretty good for $150 in materials.

Next is a ****** night stand with the xtra wood.

You know what would look good with your bed? A hanging suspended bed. That's the new thing apparently. I''ll post a pict of what I mean. Saw it the other day. Bad ***. Good DIY

If you have to hang it from the ceiling, this house doesn't have the chops. Termite damage galore.

And knowing you, Willy, I'm guessing it's some sort of swing frick chair. Which would be great but like I said, termites.

Made a adirondack chair, chicken coop and rabbit hutch out of used pallet boards. I also made a diamond plate skid pan that bolts underneath my truck that protects the cat. converter from thiefs.

I enjoy woodworking. But often after finishing something, I take a few months off before starting something else.

In our old house, I did a built-in china cabinet (triangular shapped, with 3/4" glass shelves).
When we were expecting our first kid, my wife picked out a changing table with shelves and a door from Pottery Barn she wanted that was $700, and it was painted so probably not even solid wood. So when I said "no" she said "then build it for me". So I did. It's solid. Now holds video games.
In our current house I built (not built-in) a wall-to-wall (12') buffet, with cabinets on each end, and a wine rack supporting the middle part.
Have also done smaller things like storage benches, cornhole boards, kids train/lego tables, usually for friends/family.

One time back in the winter of 97-98 I made this igloo. We were playing in the back yard and started building this massive pile of snow. We kept stacking and I started digging a hole at the bottom of the huge pile of snow. After repeating this process continuously I had a big bad *** igloo, me and
7 of my partners and my dog could all get in there.

Well. I finished my ****** night stand. Total ****. I only have a circular saw, no planer, so the lines are not great. Square is still the elusive.

Just gonna fill it, sand the eff out of it, finish it and claim victory. Just like my sex life.

Pics to come............ {'} --------- <======8

Hadn't thought of it before, but you could probably make a bow out of an axe handle as well. You would need some string though.

Got into pen crafting on the lathe awhile back. A lot of fun. People love them as gifts. Easy and fairly cheap to get into.
