What (if any) movies do you want to see remade?

Apparently Liam Neeson and Seth McFarlane might be rebooting The Naked Gun movies. To me, the original television show and movies are nearly perfect and Leslie Nielsen totally owns the role of Lt. Frank Drebbin so a remake's kind of pointless, but I guess I'm in a minority if they think there's enough interest for a reboot.

I don't guess any of us should be surprised if Disney reboots the original Star Wars trilogy for its 50th anniversary in 2027. I'd probably watch it if Favreau was at the helm; I haven't seen much of The Mandalorian but it seems pretty universally well-liked, which is pretty damned impressive considering how much people just absolutely love to hate on Star Wars.

I'd like to see The Punisher remade with an NC-17 rating. I don't dislike the '89 movie or Frank Castle's portrayal in the Daredevil television show but IMHO neither do the character justice. To me, the Punisher should push the limits of the MCU like he did with comics in the industry's Bronze Age, ideally against a horde of supervillains like in Rick Remender's run instead of just relatively normal criminals.

Anyway BBN, what would you like to see remade?

The Punisher needs to be remade into the darkest anti-hero in the history of comic book movies. Like Clint Eastwood at the end of Unforgiven. The Punisher is about when vengeance becomes gritty and it's all elbows, kneecaps, and splintering teeth flying apart in a hail of large caliber bullets and rebar sticking out of broken concrete. If John Wick didn't play nice, that needs to be The Punisher.

Hollywood has about ran out of new ideas. Seems like half of new movies are just reboots of stuff that's already been done. The only time I really think a reboot might be worth doing is if technology prevented the original from being done to it's full potential.

I'd be more interested in sequels to some older movies that left you without an ending. As we mentioned in another movie thread, seeing a sequel to The Thing might be interesting. I'd rather know how a story ends then seeing the same one again with very little changes.

Not a movie remake, but I'd like for HBO, Netflix or Prime sign up to do The Stand in maybe a 30 episode series. The one that ABC did several years ago was just ok, but the CBS All Access version this year is terrible. I'd also like to see one of them take on doing the Dark Tower series of books.

Trying to remember a remake that's significantly better than the original. The Dark Knight is all I got.

I’ve always been a fan of Dracula movies. So I’d love to see someone do one following very closely to the Stoker book. Also not over the top like FFC did.

It has been too long since "A Star is Born" has been remade. We need a new one with Tyler Childers and Zendaya.

It's too big of a story with too many complex characters to be done justice in a few episodes. The CBS All Access version has been horrible as it's bounced around and back and forth between characters and timelines as if they're operating with a 24 second shot clock.

Same with the Dark Tower movie with McConaughey and Elba. It's a story that can't possibly be told in 2 hours, and there is so much more material in the following books that needs to be told as well.

Not a remake but when it comes to war movies - there’s always been a painful lack of WWI and Korean War movies

so maybe a Korean War remake of “Porkchop Hill” but add better context showing the initialNK invasion and some era-accurate Cold War type escalation —

and MIG Alley - I wanna see the Air Force kicking commie-*** in MIG alley

I was looking back at some movies that were made in the 80's (my favorite decade) and one seems perfect for a reboot right now. That would be They Live. With the way the politicians, msm, and social media are trying to control everything, it seems like a perfect time period to reboot it. Here's a quick example I made just using the current President but it can apply to most politicians so don't start a political fight here.

Instead of sunglasses they could use cell phones with a special app that allows you to see the aliens and all of the subliminal messages with your camera and anything you are viewing on your screen. They just have to include the fight scene like the one between Roddy Piper and Keith David. Greatest fight scene ever.
