What if Rudy Gobert had never tested positive?

We probably continued on with the season with the parameters that had previously been set. I pretty much knew when that incident happened, there would be no NCAA tournament. It still is confusing to me though that at 9:30 AM on Packer and Durham, Swofford said the ACC tournament would continue only for it to get canceled two hours later.

I think we're watching champ week with no fans! I'm not sure a March Madness, but it probably would have moved forward with no fans too. I could be wrong, but I think most D1 athletes in any sport would have happily played with the mitigation of no fans. They could have also essentially have self-quarantined for the length they were in the tournament as a further precaution.

I think Thursday happens, 50/50 on Friday, but I don’t think March madness happens. Rudy getting it is when it got real for the players

I think it was a matter of time. The media ran with this. How something is named carries so much weight. The Flu just isn’t catchy enough. But Coronavirus really gets everyone’s attention. Look at the stats comparing the Flu to Coronavirus. Yet look at which one has caused mass chaos.
I’m sorry, but our media and government have really bent the people over a barrel. I value what the doctors I’ve seen on tv are saying more than what anyone on here posts.
We’ve gotten hosed, and now peoples lives are possibly going to be affected in a negative way.

Fear may be the deadliest drug out there.

2 I think I can just summarize the rest of what you said and kindly ask what the hell are you smoking? :)

Knowing that you disagree with my take makes me feel much better about what I said. I would be worried had you agreed with me.

Every medical professional I have seen has said this is very serious.

The “stats” comparisons show that this a good deal worse than the regular flu. Every medical professional I have seen has said this.

While this is certain unprecedented and odd, and will certainly have an impact on so many things, it seems that most of the professionals thing this is a good idea, long term, to take care of our people.

The several doctors I’ve seen on tv have said to be cautious but live your life, and that it’s the elderly and people with weak immune systems that are more susceptible to death than younger people, or even children.
The issue I have is the panic that’s been caused. We’ve got grocery stores full with people cleaning out items.
What about the people that need these items? This is bordering on madness.

Anthony Fauci, the md who is leading the US response, has said that people should NOT be out living their lives, and has said that it may even take a national lockdown to get things to where they want them to be. I haven’t seen any medical professional of note say that Americans should be out and about, just living their lives like normal.

In terms of human reaction... sure, people get anxious and nervous. But a week ago we would never have guessed we would be at this point. So who knows what a week from now might bring? As people say with guns... better to have it and not need it then need it and not have it.

So that makes it better....”it’s just the old folks with weak immune systems” so we should just live our life since (WERE) okay... crack the door on what mind you have a little:)

Covid19 death rate in America is down to 1.8%, and falling hourly. That’s just in diagnosed patients.....it’s actually much lower.

I’m sitting back watching people go bananas over this. I went to the store today, not to shop, but to people watch. We as a society are crying wolf. When something legitimately bad hits us in the future (think a mutated Ebola that can thrive in sanitary environments), we won’t be able to handle it mentally, let alone physically.

90 days and we will be looking back at this going “WTF?”

Gotcha. Italy and others are much higher, but the media ignores the age factor, treatment available, and genetics involved in these other areas.

There are hundreds of thousands, maybe millions right now here walking around with covid19. Some more will die, but it’ll be limited.

Yeah I know there’s a **** ton of variables. I was thinking about something earlier, like how many have, or have had, and not known it, and just get better? Or don’t go to the doctor and what not. Are there carriers? Or is that not...?

All I’m saying- There’s too much overreacting/panic but just becuase you’re healthy and young/middleaged or whatever don’t be ignorant/careless (close/simple minded) and possibly infect someone’s OLDER loved one that could possible die. That, and saying fear is the deadliest drug is just one of the dumbest things I ever did seeent heard lmao

Ipsy, put the glue bottle down and step outside for some fresh air. Go to the grocery store dude. Get on your scooter and ride over. Look at the craziness going on. Schools shutting down for weeks, maybe more. Who knows. I’m not a doctor, and I sure as hell know you aren’t. I think it’s obvious you’ve dabbled in some chemistry of sorts though.
I’m a small business owner. I’m concerned with traffic flow to my business due to this. The flu has never caused this much panic, and look at the deaths yearly from it. They’re reporting that small businesses can get help from the government if we are hurt from this. This is crazy times man. I know you can relate.

A lot of strange stuff in this post recently...

CNN said it lol

Uhm, I think you are confusing what the news says and what is reported on the news.

Wait wait wait... you went to the store to people watch? So as top medical professionals are saying "Hey, stay home if you can"... you didn't try to help out or anything, with your extensive, top level medical background... but you literally had nothing more valuable to do in your day, and ignored what people are recommending, to go out in public... just to laugh at people?

So that's either REALLY bizarre, or a lie. Not sure which.

And yes, if we get something serious like ebola, we are in deep, deep ****. I am hoping that leadership (both political and military) and our people learn from this experience.

Gotcha. Italy and others are much higher, but the media ignores the age factor, treatment available, and genetics involved in these other areas.

There are hundreds of thousands, maybe millions right now here walking around with covid19. Some more will die, but it’ll be limited.

The media isn't ignoring any of that. It's been reported, over and over and over. From the Guardian to Fox to CNN to the New York Times, every one of them have discussed the factors and reactions and heath care and all of the rest in Italy, and China, and South Korea, and all of them. Either you are misinformed, or you are lying.

And yes, there are likely many, many, many cases we don't know about. More will die, and yes, it will be limited. Hopefully the measures many Americans are taking with help limit it.

It seems as though no matter what the thread is about it turns into a pissing match among us. We are better than that. I understand why Showenuff decided to take some time off. Maybe this board needs to be put in quarantine. OFC

As i said in the other thread, it’s an emotional time for everyone. Anyone that brings politics into it is misinformed. Blaming Trump or Obama, or any political party is so dumb.

What about saying this is all the media's fault? I mean, it pretty clearly is a serious thing... global pandemic and all, countries closing borders... so does insisting it is all the fault of "the media" uninformed? I feel like that, over the past week or two, has become the newer version of the same tired political nonsense.

Very true. Not on this board but I do see a lot more consideration and caring among the general public despite the t.p. , santitizing products, baby wipe , baby formula hoarders out there. Inhave seen kind acts of people helping each other. My daughter in law who has a 6 week old baby told me of people letting her in front of them in the grocery store line because the baby fretty or crying. There has been some good among people coming out and it is a shame for something like this to happen to bring out the best in people. Then there's the people like the ones who bought a years supply of t.p. and selling it to the public for $40.00 for a pack of four rolls. On the other hand there's the man that bought a lot of t.p. and was giving it away to those in need. Hopefully this too passes quickly as possible. OFC

Funny, I sort of believe it is driven by a global pandemic combined with peoples natural fears of the unknown and unseen and the desire to protect themselves, and of course by statements from public health officials about the need to stay away from other people and the possibility for a national lockdown... with a raft of other influences, of course, including the absolute glut of social media and the like that people consume, and how we psychologically interact with it. But sure, the media.

in the times I have been out, I’ve seen the exact same thing. This isn’t Ebola, it’s not gonna be like that, and I think everybody understands that. People will take care of each other.

Both. Carriers that are affected, and unaffected carriers. Either way, this virus is still way, way overblown.

I got so tired of listening to some friends say this is a set up, whether from China because were spinning things around on them with trade and/or they want Trump out. Not sure who “they” is but my eyes are being opened, especially since this comes on the heels of a failed impeachment.

Weird times we’re in lol.

Well that explains a lot these cancellations and what not I guess ...? The unaffected carriers. But yeah, I AGGREE it is way overblown. On a side note...my son said “who’s lookin? You can get that 2 for 1 special if you wipe my *** for a day” :D
