My coworkers phone that was issued by who we work for. I believe Apple maps. We were entering coordinates. We deal with coordinates not with addresses. And yes it's easy to enter the wrong coordinate but we didn't because we checked it. When we switch to the Droid we did not have the same problem. That may have been a one-time thing. Except that it happened again in a few days.

I guess it boils down to what you like. I can't live in the world without a back button.

I use GPS status app.

Is iPhone as bad with voice recognition as Droid? Droid and my accent is a bad mix.
I rarely use voice recognition so damned if I know.

Have an 11 currently, after being an android user for years. It’s ok. Some things I like are the face recognition is great and CarPlay is better than Android Auto. I see little reason to strongly prefer either honestly.

iPhone Xr.

I might have to get a new phone this year or next.

Work insists that I have a company phone; they gave me an iPhone 8 when I started here in January 2020. I forwarded that B...ch to my phone. The only calls I get on it are for the last guy who had it and used it for all of his family stuff.

I am with rudd1 in regards to my phone being a tool. I look at all of my electronic devices as tools and have many different devices.

PC stuff for work. Apple for my personal use. But that is a different story. :)

My last iPhone the battery turned to ****, this 11’s battery is amazing.
Still clutching my old SE. Love how well it fits into my pocket but after the last update my battery is now officially slagged. I have to run it in low battery mode or it drains in a few hours.

Guess I will upgrade to the new SE or a mini soon.

My old phone did the same thing. For the older models, you can get a battery replacement from Apple for like $50 I think it was.

All my Kids/Spouses and Grandkids have iPhones.
Most live 400 miles away or more.

Facetime is amazing. We use it almost everyday.

I miss having a Mac at work like I did for one job.

The mini is likely going to be discontinued starting with the next line of iPhones coming out this fall. Sales have been pretty poor for it.

I've got whatever the new one is. I try to keep one for as long as I can before upgrading, and the battery life on whatever old one I had was getting terrible. I'd guess I had the last one for about 5 years before getting the new one.

I think at this point, droids, which I have always used, and I phones can't be that much different in capabilities. I just paid $450 or so for the Samsung A53 and it is a great phone, camera, runs every app imaginable, T Mobile transferred all my data for free, so I can't see how the S22 or whatever that was $1200 could work any better for me. I just won't pay that much for a phone.

As an aside, much of my prejudice against I phone stems from my wife INSISTING that we buy a Mac for our main home computer a number of years ago. Always been a PC guy and I was so frustrated trying to learn to use the damn thing I gave up and started bringing my work laptop home, Mac system was always counterintuitive to me.

^The reality is you’re paying for a faster processor, better camera, better display, better battery, and greater durability/longevity if you pay for the $1200 phone.

-don't disagree with that at all...the question is do you *need* that stuff. Like I said earlier...the $150 Motorola had all I needed. Phone/email/decent camera/processor was fast enough for my needs.

^the vast majority of folks don't need that stuff. To each their own. I hate spending on depreciating assets...some people really enjoy their phone so maybe its worth it to them, to them its a luxury item...to me it's a tool.

Don’t disagree. I work at a cell phone carrier. I get 50% off my cell phone plan, so I don’t mind getting the latest and greatest, but there’s hardly a speck of difference between the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra and the S22 Ultra. Similarly, the iPhone 12 Pro Max and 13 Pro Max are almost identical.
There’s a great YouTube channel, named “JerryRigEverything,” in which the host takes apart phones to determine what you’re getting when you’re buying these phones. Highly recommend.

Yes, Android manufacturers are notorious for lack of OS update support. Unless you're spending top dollar, you'll be lucky to get OS updates beyond one or two years, and even then the updates are often delayed months from when Google actually releases it. It's not uncommon to see one year or less of OS update support in the budget range of phones. I had one of them Motorola G phones one time and I only got one year of OS updates and the one major version update of Android I got came like 5 months after Google had officially released it.

I had one of them cheap Motorola G phones and and it was so underpowered that I got rid of it after 3 months of being frustrated with everything being slow and choppy. I'd go to scroll up or down and it would take several seconds to do anything, and this was straight out of the box.

Well, I bought a used Samsung S9+ that was at least a year old when I bought it, used it at least two more years, and never had a problem at all, until the battery started getting old and would have to be charged at least once a day.

-maybe it's a qc issue...mine was solid, Boston. Again...email/reading pdfs/site photos/cat paws/ebay/youtube type of stuff was all I did. Anything beyond that is a laptop task for me.

I use my phone for catspause/email/browsing the web/phone calls. But damned if my iPhone 11S or whatever the hell it was called started making that a chore after 3 years. My wife’s iPhone X that was such a big deal when it came out went to **** last year. My iPhone 4 lasted for 6 years before any issues. You can’t tell me theyre not purposely slowing them down or turning them to **** after 3 years now. It’s ridiculous.

I tried messing around with my wife and daughter's iPhones and just hate them. All the iPhone is is basically the app drawer of an Android it seems. At least the ones i messed with in the past. I've always liked how Android was more customizable.

I usually get a high end phone when I upgrade. I don't even have a computer anymore and so I do most of that kind of stuff on my phone. So a powerful phone is important to me. I've been using a Samsung Note 20 Ultra for almost 2 years. It's a great phone.

The unfortunate thing is that all these phones are barely any different than the models that came right before them. The only real new innovation is the folding screens and I'm not sure I'm ready to take a chance on those yet. Just not a fan of the seam you can see where the fold is.

I'm more intrigued with the rollout screen technology. Not sure how sturdy they can make the screen though.

I started out wanting the foldable Samsung phone, but was told by a store employee that they had seen several with problems with the screen, and recommended against it.
