exit plan? If he going to ride his current deal out or will he step down before he gets tapped on the shoulder and asked to leave (Stew, Nehlen)? More importantly is there anyone on his staff that can take over or would we be better off looking for new blood? Hopefully Huggins' replacement will rock a leather jacket

Nehlen wasn't asked to leave and Huggins won't be either unless he strings together multiple seasons like 2018-19.

WVU is going to the NCAA Tournament despite having a young team. Why can't people just appreciate that?

When your replacement shows up while you’re still in the job - you’re being asked to leave.

if we make it to the tournament- we’ll have backed our way in there

Hopefully, Huggins replacement will have to wait a few years. His body of work at WVU is solid. Counting this year he will have made 10 NCAA appearances in the 13 years he has coached here. 2 of the 3 years we missed were the first two years he had to rebuild for the B12. The 3rd miss was last year which we all agree was a disaster. But he has fixed that and with a young rebuilt team, he has won 20 games and will get them into the big dance once again. Be careful what you wish for because It's a long shot that we would be better off with a leather jacket replacement who could repeat Huggins record. Maybe instead of pushing for a replacement, we should be appreciating what he has done and still has to accomplish. This current team is still learning and has imho overachieved early on which set expectations extremely high. The conference grind exposed their flaws and their lack of experience. But, they still have a chance to finish strong and gain some valuable tournament experience. The future looks bright for next season and I for one am not in favor of throwing out the baby with the bathwater.

Huggins will retire in 2022 or unless by some small miracle wins an NCAA title it will be after that.

The new hire will be found shortly after. I would hope we don't take a current assistant coach as HC. To me it's usually better to start fresh.

Is that a reference to someone WVU has hired to eventually be Huggins' replacement? Or are you referring to Holgy & Stew? I agree Stew was asked to leave but I don't think Nehlen or Huggins were.

Backed our way in? I don't think so. They earned their 20 and are in. There was no backing in.

Huggins isn't being asked to leave. Your hate for a future hall of fame coach is killing your intended integrity of the thread.

Do I hate Huggins? Are you sure about that or are you just spouting off your bad interpretation of my post and the intent behind it? And given his age and contract status, isn't it only natural to wonder about his departure? Sorry to throw some logic at your insanity

Some day he will retire and WVU will need to hire a new coach.

I dont see how its anymore complicated than that.

Darris would probably get a legitimate consideration.

If he had an assistant worthy of taking over, we might not be in this spot. If so then hes just a clone with a lesser name

Huggs Will deservedly leave on his terms. The difference is that he loves WVU and he will be active in finding the next coach. My guess it will be someone with a similar mindset and coaching background.

No interpretation. Just a higher knowledge than you. His contract expires 2022. Enjoy him while he is WVU HC. You don't like the way it's run you can wait until that date.

Great, then a few more years of .500 ball in the Big XII, players who don't enjoy playing, and a coach who loses his team half way through the season.....yippee ...what's not to like?

You can go away for 2 years until he retires or bless us all by never returning.

You wont be happy with any result.

If it causes you so much consternation, do something else.

I’ll be happy with a result that breaths life into this program. If it’s with Huggins - great...if it’s with someone else...that’s great too.....but if you’re fine with .500 in the Big xii......hey who am i to rain on your parade

Yours is not opinion. You asked a question in a way that says Huggins be gone.

No, I asked what his exit plan is.....given his age and contract status is a fair question....i mean you don’t expect him to coach forever do you

It has been answered. At some point he will retire and WVU will hire a new coach.

This is not complicated.

Released on Thursday night, Coach Huggins has agreed to coach the Best Virginia team this summer. A job he turned down last year to all the requests from all the former WVU players who make up the team. If these former players didn’t like playing for him, why would they ask him to get involved with the TBT team?

HoF coaches are usually held to a standard of consistent Elite Eights and annual first-round draft picks. The Huggins fellating sycophants around here think it's just fine to have a dumpster fire every four years and "rebuild" despite ONLY ever getting 4-year players every three years.

The "greatest coach WVU could ever hope for" is held to the same standards that would get him fired at 30 P5 schools within five years.

You're full of ****.

Hall Fame Coaches just to name a few to embarrass you...
Doc Carlson 1 final 4 team in 31 years and 1 NCAA tournament appearance.
Edgar Diddle 2 sweet 16 and eight NIT appearances.
Harry Witlack 3 first round losses in 3 NCAA appearances.

Huggins is not the only coach to see no titles. He is in the hall of fame so suck it it up *****.

Of the 40 displayed threads on the front page of this board, you account for the last or initial message of 29. How many days will it be before your neighbors find your bloated, decomposing body hunched over your 2008 HP in your Huggins-shrine trailer? 5? 10?

What a sad, pathetic loser. I'd feel sorry for you if you weren't such a degenerate piece of garbage.

A response expected from someone of your cognitive ineptitude.

It's sad that you can't even enjoy a win. You're compelled and overcome with the need to spend your day with "I told you so" posts and responding often to yourself. The hilarious thing is you would suck Huggins dry and I'd welcome a coaching change but I'm the one who enjoyed this win and day more than you.

Yours is a depressing existence. You'd have my sympathy if I had any respect for you.
