They may no longer have fiddlers, I may be wrong so call before you go. And also you have to wait until the flood water goes down. It's only open in the spring, summer into early fall.

Surprised that Shady Cliff doesn't. Maybe they do.

I've never been, but I just looked at Mike Linnigs menu and they offer "Whole Catfish" and "Catfish Filet" so I may have to journey there soon

610 Magnolia in Louisville.

The best dinner I've ever had was years ago in Chicago at a place called "Moto." I believe it's closed now because the Chef ended up offing himself.

I've only been to the one in Benton. I don't make it down that way often but when I do I will try to eat there.

I really don't like fancy places much anymore (Tony's is an exception) so I'll list my favorite casuals.
Lexington: Ramsey's and Saul Good
Louisville: Irish Rover, The Fish House, Burger Boy
Frankfort: Buddy's Pizza and Gibby's
and Wallace Station in Midway is probably best of all.

Goose Creek Diner in Lou is casual and pretty solid

The majority of my restaurant experience is based in Louisville so take this for what it's worth. Jack Fry's.
Wife's college roommate owns Jack Fry's. I live in Lexington but eat their when in town.

I'm trying to think of a locally owned place that I've eaten at that's bad. I can't think of one. All of them are good and have their appeal. Whats the sandwich place out by the horse farms.....Windy Corner I believe? Great sandwich shop.
Windy Corner is on Bryan Station road.

I have heard good things about Lighthouse Restaurant in Sulphur Well but have not tried it yet. I can say that Bread of Life Café in Liberty is really good if you like homestyle cooking

Jackson's in Richmond serves up some mighty fine country, waist expandin', comfort food at a reasonable price. Nothing fancy about the place at all, just good food.
Big Al’s diner in Richmond was one of my favorite hole in the wall joints. The silver star diner had good bbq and catfish sandwiches. Cheap as well. I guess Big Al died.

My dad always liked the bbq place in Glasgow.

I have ate at a lot of local establishments, but I have a hard time picking a favorite.

Not saying it is the best. But when I was a kid my grandma would make a big roast beef, and my grandpa would make the best dang gravy ever.

This past summer I went to Owensboro to visit my parents and we went to Colbys. I ordered the roast beef and mashed potatoes with gravy. It tasted exactly how I remember my grandparents. It was amazing

I don't live in Owensboro anymore, I live just across the river from Louisville in Indiana. But when I was growing up fiddlers were a thing. The Days Inn on 231 (🤮) had a restaurant on site that had a sign that said "Famous for our fiddlers".

My uncle ran that Days Inn. You wouldn't think it was any good, being a Days Inn restaraunt, but he had it down. Every Friday night, they had all you can eat and there would be a line out the door waiting.

I went in there a few times in high school when I had friends from other cities come to stay for various events. It was awful. But I think by that point the restaurant was closed.

But honestly even at its worst, if the food they serve is good I'm good. Just look at previous places I have mentioned. Deloris Cafe. Reds Fish House. Cafeteria tables and chairs. Jack and Jennys was right by my church and we ate there all the time. Miss that place very much. About as run down as you could get as far as decor. But damn did Jack make a good breakfast.

I used to stop at uncle buds catfish shack on richmond road in lexington back in the 90’s. the food was good and very reasonably priced. then one day i went back and they were gone. i found on google that they were a chain and now are only three restaurants, all in tennessee.

I think Saul Good just closed.

I used to like Linda's on South Lime, for breakfast or lunch, near Bank of the Bluegrass. They had killer chicken pot pie.

Saul Good is still open downtown and at the mall. They closed the Hamburg location last year so they could focus more on DV8 Kitchen (which is a great concept with really good food).
