I'm sure I could figure it out if I read every thread on the board. However I would very much appreciate if someone in the know would be kind enough to lay it out for me.

Thanks -

Ellis is an interesting piece but he is probably gone. We should know his status this week. They can’t afford to let him drag his decision out.

Absolute need a backup type PG and a legit 2 that get shoot. Ellis fits because of his skill set. He is a combo. Offensively he will be tough to replace. That is the kind of player they need on offense.

I would get another banger down low. I am not sold on BHH.

I’d be shocked if El returns. I’d like to see him at the 2, with a good 1 though.
probably all comes down to NIL. chance he could make more here than going pro somewhere. most likely if he left he'll play in europe leagues. maybe G league but europe most likely and let's say he can earn maybe 80% of earnings overseas, would that keep him here? i'd think so.

women's game has gotten where no reason for HVL to go pro as she makes more in NIL than the pros pay. the women's teams can keep players for four years. but i truly think NIL keeps El here if the money guys want him here. I think if he stays, then you add another ball handler to take the load off him thus i think he plays slower and smarter. but this year he had to do it all and just was too fast. overall, he'd still be a importance piece to next years puzzle.

I'm a bit torn on Ellis coming back. He would have to drastically improve his defense for one.

Hopefully with more actual guards on the team it would take a lot of the burden off of him and he could expend more energy on the defensive end. But Ellis can get buckets when you need it and can catch fire outside.

I love El but he reminds me of Malik Cunningham. They both want the ball in their hands as much as possible and seem to think they are always option A.

Everything I read from his most recent announcement suggest he is not coming back. He is going to fight to get into the NBA. When he mentioned 2-way contract, to me, that was his way of saying "I ain't coming back here unless its in a body bag".

I agree that Ellis is gone, though I didn't convey it properly in that post.
