Sorry I thought rounding up wasnt that big of a deal but to be exact you were disappointed 86 seasons. Kentucky has played basketball 122 seasons and has 17 final fours.
122 - 17 = 86

I actually have been aware of KY Basketball for 52 seasons and 11 years they made the Final Four. I had no idea what that was in 1975 but was very aware by 1978.

So that is:

52 - 11 = 41.

Now 12 years UK lost in EE. Multiple that by three and add nine, yep 86.

I have to see a roster.

I don’t have blanket “bah gawd this is Kentucky” expectations because that’s a fool’s errand that will only lead to disappointment.

I can only say I would like to compete for a national championship.

Historically we win a title roughly every 15 years and go to the FF roughly every 8 years. We are two years behind our average on Final Fours and are nearing our average for titles.

Want to have a team that feels Final Four caliber all year. Don’t think we’ve had that since 2017. 2019, maybe.
I think that’s the key really. You can’t say “if they don’t make the Final Four, then he’s a failure” after his first year in which he could actually build a legitimate roster. The tournament is just too unpredictable. But I’d like a team that we genuinely feel is in the hunt.

Now, if they fail to make it out of the first weekend four years in a row, we’ve got a problem. Not that we’re pointing fingers or anything…

The ncaa tourney has only been around 86 years.

So we win it all about once every 11 years.

Final four about every 5 seasons.

Obviously the title gaps are way longer post 58 with 20 years, 18 years, 14 years and now 13 and counting with no immediate end in sight. So I take your point.

We go to the Elite Eight close to every other year. We’ve had some bad fortune in EE games overall, but historically we’ve gone into the season with a reasonable expectation of playing the second weekend of the tournament, and with a realistic expectation of advancing.

It's going to be hard to tell until we see how next year's team shakes out. I picked Final Four because that is what we are used to doing but I can live with an Elite 8 if we get the correct pieces.

Can't even begin to set an expectation until we know who will be playing here.

The realistic expectation is the S16 every year. The problem with expecting the FF is that you don’t know where you’ll be seeded in advance and whether or not that means you have to go through the #1 or #2 overall team in order to get there. You can’t control how good other teams are going to be. What you can control is doing well enough in the regular season to put yourself in a favorable position to get through the first weekend. You FF or bust people are crazy
