130 on my Suzuki Bandit on I-75 in northern Madison County. Scared the crap out of me. Felt like if I had tried to sit up I would have gotten blown off the bike. Never did it again.

I hit 130 on my 76 Honda SS on I-71 ..And your right, had to lay on tank ..I backed out of throttle when I started thinkin bout chain breaking and or tires blowing..Dumbest thing I ever did and learned to never do that again..My bike looked exactly like this....

About 110-112 in my Acura TL. Mountain Parkway on a straightaway. A friend was ahead of me and he was on lookout.

110 in a PoS Chevy Citation. Surprisingly I think it could have gone 5-10 more.

The auto's I've owned & cared about since then, I've not done that to them.

Well beyond the 125 listed on the speedometer in my '79 Datsun 280Z on Gene Snyder. Had some regular *** out in Prospect and Goshen in high school so would fly back and forth often early AM. This was back when it was still mostly farmland around the Brownsboro Rd. exit.

About 140 in a Porsche 911 on the freeway in Colorado. I passed a cop (didn't even see him) and he radioed ahead. About 100 miles later I had slowed down and they were waiting for me. Huge fine and lecture. The thing about this car is how well it handles at high speed.

140-160 at Lowes.Charlotte/Concord Motor Speedway whatever they call it now.. ... Richard Petty school...
Highly recommend the Ride&Drive... Get to go faster when riding... They got my respect for damn sure...
But think it would be more of a rush riding on the back of a thoroughbred... There ain't no seatbelt on that crazy *** horse!

I did 125 on my brothers Honda Sabre 1100.
Over in Samuels. Just north of Bardstown a few miles. Little two lane road where they put stripes down for local boys to do an 1/8 mile drag.

That's a beautiful bike. Love those early Honda monsters. Would love to have one of those now.

125 on a two-lane road in my mom's Altima when I was 16. Thinking back at how stupid I was makes me cringe a little bit.

About 130 mph in an armor plated Turbo Charged Mercedes on the Autobahn. Was getting ready to go to Hoenfels (Germany) from Bad Kreuznach in about 2 days when the 1st Armored Division Commander called our office needing his car brought to Hoenfels that day. His driver had been driving him all night and he was going ahead in a Black Hawk and wanted his driver to get some rest. His driver slept while I drove. I was doing around 90 on the Autobahn when a Passat passed us. I could not let that happen so, I punched it up to about 130, caught them and kept it there until I could no longer see them.

Used to drag race my 1991 Mustang at Beech Bend. Best time 1/4 mile 12.50 at 110 mph. Top speed. No idea. Speedometer didnt work. Maybe 140-150.

Fastest - buried a 185mph Speedo on a 93 CBR900RR
Quickest - sub-8 sec 1/4 mile at 150+ mph on a Suzuki pro stock drag bike
On 4 wheels - 130 or so in several different cars.
Took a ditch at 120 on a GSXR750, I nearly died, my need for speed did die.

Little over 140 in a 1970 Chevelle. Two lane highway after school. The guy that I was passing told me that his speedometer was pegged at 140 (that's that only way I knew how fast I had been). I remember backing off and hitting the brakes because we were coming up on an S-curve and a bus was in the on-coming lane.

Same car, different time, got the accelerator stuck doing ~90.

All of this was of course back in the day of not wearing seat-belts, and the car had no real safety features like cars now.

165 in a BMW M6 at the M driving school. Been over 100 many many times, too many too count, from my sentra TYPE R!!11, to a Maxima. Been in the passenger seat going over 120 many times, most recently in my brother's 911. Surprised at some of the responses here, but I guess looking back at it going over 100 is kinda stupid.

A similar situation happened with me in 1986 when General Brailsford visited our missile site. In fact, his visit also occurred on the day of the Challenger disaster. He rode in an armored BMW 7-series.

I once rode my '88 HD Sportster on the Autohahn at around 105 MPH (~170 KPH) when it had less than 1,000 miles on the speedo. Front forks began shaking so bad that I shut it down fairly quick. Scared the crap outta me.

I got a 91 model Silverado past 110 when it was fairly new several times. Maybe above 115 once. That was plenty fast for me back in those days.

Same as the OP +2mph. I did it in a 2000 Corvette. I sold it to a guy in Cleveland. He didn't want to come all the way down here so I took it to him in Grove City near Columbus.

140 in 01 Mustang GT. Just got a chip and new pipes. Top down and it was a piercing noise from the wind. Death trap and boy was I stupid at 18 years old. 125 on a Honda CBR 600RR. I no longer own the bike and the Mustang scares me after driving 35 on a back road and hit black ice and went 100 yards deep into a field.

Side note. Was in TX recently. Speed limit was 80. I was driving like 82-83 and being passed. I felt like a rebel driving 83 and people were passing me like it was nothing.

About 130 in my 91 Beretta GTZ on I-75 at night racing a Grand National . We were tied up when we approached a semi changing lanes , I went left and they went right and we met up at same speeds in the same position .

147 MPM 1977 280-Z. I had been running that fast on the interstate for about a mile or so. I backed off as I was coming around a long sweeping curve to get off my interstate exit. I was half way around the curve when the interstate lit up in front of me. A state trooper had me on radar at 103 as I was slowing down for my exit. Big fine and a bunch of points.

There is no way a Beretta was running with a Grand National. It's your story so it's cool though.

My parents had a Beretta and I've owned, and raced a Buick T-Type, and your little Chevy wasn't even playing the same ballgame as the turbo Buicks.

Unless the driver of the Buick wasn't going all out.

Your parents had a base package Beretta , probably not even a quad four with dual overhead cams . But the biggest key factor your not considering because you weren't even there and haven't attempted before is that it wasn't planned and didn't even have a take off . I was already doing 90 when they pulled up and it went from there , the GTZ wasn't great from take off but had plenty of top end power . You try to come off as a car guy but you don't know ish but maybe you can fool everybody else , ok ratchet .

I knew general Brailsford, got a few awards from him while stationed at the 4th USAFAD from 84-87. Hard nosed general. He inspected our unit one time and was in front of one portly SSG (who I did not like) and in his very loud voice said "Sergeant, you're fat!" It took every bit of restraint I had not go bust out laughing. Gave the SSG 60 days to get back in shape or he was through. He had been pencil whipping his PT scores for a while.
