We ran a WR screen in JV and I was blocking down field for one of my best friends he juked into me and I "tackled" him, we both fell down.

I caught A big 3rd down seam route in varsity and my adrenaline was pumping threw the ball behind me in what I thought was a reasonable manner apparently as my teammates tell it it bounced 15 feet in the air.

On the block as the missed free throw lazily bounces to whoever wants it most, I rip the rebound away like a gd man and executed a beautiful hook shot from about 12 ft. Scored for the wrong team, ended up losing by one later on. Set aside that I scored for the opponent, that should be an instructions on how to play the touching game.

Babe Ruth. 15 yrs old. Playing 2nd base. Man on first and second. Well hit ground ball to my left. Take a few steps and full out dive knowing there's no way I'm going to snare it... I feel it smack into my glove and I pop up quick as you like. Look to 2nd for the DP. No one covering. Look to 3rd for some reason. Then back to 2nd. Forgot about the force at 1st. It's like the astonishment of getting to that ball erased my brain.

Also got thrown out from RF going to first. The dude was my best friend at the time and I remember saying if I hit it to you, don't throw me out at first. In my defense, he was playing way shallow and I roped it. I was also fat and slow.

Struck out three times in a t-ball game. Should've seen that as a sign of things to come, but I kept playing anyway.

This was before coaches and umpires became nice and understating. You just sat your *** down. No mulligans.

We were up in fourth quarter. Other team pressing to try to catch up. Somehow they had not noticed me standing at our foul line all alone. Our point guard Grant Hills the pass to me. It was perfect. I turn, go to the hoop and missed the layup. On the rebound they knock it out. I wanted to be anywhere but that court then.

"With 1:17 left in the game J**** O**** had an intentional foul to all but end Harlan's hopes of winning the game." -Harlan Daily Enterprise circa 2001.

This was in the district tourney and my last basketball game ever...I wish that c*cksucker would have mentioned that I didn't contribute our team going 4-31 from 3.

Weather: Overcast with a strong probability for red-***

Was at the game in Rupp when Gardner Webb beat the Cats and remember feeling more and more embarrassed for the program as the game progressed. And by the end of the game I was ready to pistol whip Billy G. Because they didn't just beat us...they were in control of the game start to finish and whipped us by 16 or 17 points.

We're tied with maybe 10 seconds to go against Cov Cath. I'm bringing the ball up against man to man full court press.

I go behind my back with the dribble at half court, defender strips me clean, goes down for the game winning layup as time expires.

I was so angry with myself I tried to quit the team in the locker room after the game but coach wouldn't let me.

I'll NEVER forget that moment.

Jr. year of high school. I get a fast break run out, missed 3 straight layups in a row. Nobody ran back, i was all by myself. Hey, bright side is i did get 3 rebounds. And eventually hit the gimmie on the 4th try.

Playing right field in districts as a freshman and against the eventual state champion. Had them down by a couple of runs at the time. One of their sub-human juniors hits a 400 foot high fly ball to me. I may have turned in 3 circles trying to get to the spot where it was moving to. Out of nowhere our center fielder comes over and catches it. It would be have been less embarrassing had I just missed it, but kudos to him for making the play. In my defense I was way out of position (catcher by trade), but regardless I never made fun of anyone for not catching a fly ball after that.

1. I could barely hit at T-ball - and simply was incapable of catching a baseball as a little kid. As a 4-year old I had gotten hit in the face with a fastball, bloody nose knocked out while watching the neighborhood teenagers play and was scared of the baseball because of it.

2. When I was a freshman in high-school our football team was so bad that I lettered and often started DL on the varsity team. My freshman year we were playing at Ft. Knox (they were awesome in the '80s) and their fullback and running back put me on my back and ran over me and into the end zone. The worst part was when they looked at each other and laughed. I can still see those bastards laughing at me.

3. My first attempts at long-snapping for shotgun and field goals. Ball went everywhere but where it was supposed to go and all my teammates were laughing at me. Even the coaches were laughing at me. Respect the long snappers, folks - it takes a lot of talent.

I was a deep reserve on my school’s 8th grade basketball team. I got ahead on the break. I caught the pass on the left block, two-hand power dribble, gather, go up strong, scream like Andre Riddick, slap the backboard, doink WIDE open layup off the side of the rim. Fumbled the rebound out of bounds. Coach took me out and I didn’t check back in.

JV baseball freshman year I was in RF. (I’m a lefty. Natural 1B, but was relegated to OF because an older kid was higher on the depth chart)

Top of the third. Runner on first. Batter hit single into shallow-ish right center. I field it as the runner rounds second. Coach is yelling for me to hit the cutoff. I decided to show off my cannon. I uncorked a helluva throw ... over the third base dugout. Runner scored on the overthrow. Coach pinch hit for me in the bottom of the inning - my first AB.

3/4 quarter court heave at the basket when a minute was left in the half. Other team starting counting down 5,4 3, 2 and I let it fly boinking it off the backboard.

Similar one for me.

Basketball in about 6th grade: Was bringing the ball up the court, got to about half court, glanced at the clock, saw 3, 2, 1 on the seconds, so I heaved one up from half court (air ball).

Took a second look at the clock and saw that there was a 1 minute in front of the seconds ticking down.

When I was 11 I absolutely crushed a home run to left field. I was still watching the ball as I got into my trot and tripped over first base. And it wasn't a stumble trip. It was a full face plant into the dirt scorpion position trip. The first person I saw was the pitcher I'd just tagged. He was sitting on the mound laughing hysterically. I could here laughter all around. I got up, dusted myself of, and finished rounding the bases grinning but feeling like a total a ***.

I feel ya. Nothing like that first moon ball to be hit to you in the outfield. I thought I was pretty good out there until my first moon ball landed about 10 feet behind me. Thought I was right under it for the easy out. Lol......nope!

Who was there when Roy Walton made a tackle from the sidelines?

For me it was slow pitch softball 15 years since I had played any ball. My buddy says “go to the batting cage and practice”. I played baseball in hs and babe Ruth so I didn’t want to waste my time. Struck out on threes pitches and threw my bat. Ump threatened to throw me out. Was with my coworkers and not my finest hour but I made up with it the rest of the season.

Another baseball related. I was playing catcher in little league and the ball went to the dirt and i couldn’t find it. The runner at third thought it got past me but at last second I found it in between my chest protector and my body I pulled the ball out quick enough to make the tag on the runner. Wasn’t embarrassing but the crowd was pretty big for that game and they were all
Laughing their *** off.

Softball game about 15 years ago, hit a hot shot to 3rd and was running my hardest to first.

Got about 10-15 feet from the bag, felt my right hamstring pop, before I could even start to hobble the rest of the way, the left one pops as well.

Basically fell face first onto the bag with a huge mushroom cloud of dirt around me.

Hilarity ensued and I lay there like a beached whale.

Playing in a HS game when I was a junior. Coach changed the bunt sign but didn't bother to tell guys who were warming up in the outfield and I was one of them. Swung twice and missed and he ran down from the third base line where he was coaching and screamed at me at the top of his lungs. Told me to take a seat on the bench and I only had two strikes. Sat down on the bench and then he told me to "get my *** back up there and hit". Ended up striking out and that pretty much ruined my attitude for the rest of the season. In another game I was on third base and we were losing pretty bad. Same coach told me to steal home and I guess he wanted to just get out and go home. This was at the other teams's field and the crowd was very hostile to begin with. Tried to steal and got thrown out by about 10 feet, at least. Opposing catcher got up in my face and started talking s**t which made it worse. After that season I never even came out for baseball again. What's bad is that my Father had been talking to some small colleges about the possibility of me getting a scholarship and when I didn't even play again it made things doubly worse at home my entire Senior year.

8th grade rec league: got fouled with 0 seconds left down one, so I had two FTs to win or tie. I look over to the stands and the girl I was flat out in love with walks in. I mean wtf, never seen her at this gyn before in my life. I was a good FT shooter; clanked then both. Chick saw me on Monday and said, “I don’t date losers, Wayne.” Perhaps that last line isn’t true, but she sure as hell didn’t go out with me.

2nd place: Senior year state football semi-finals. 4th and 8 for our opponents with two minutes left in the game; we’re up 2 points. QB drops back to pass, but then breaks the pocket and tries to run for it. Comes right at me - nobody within five yards of each of us. I was a second-team all-state linebacker - and this guy wasn’t Michael Vick. I completely flub the tackle and he gets the first down. Two plays later a freshman - and the one guy I don’t like on our team - intercepts a pass and seals the game for our team - completely bailing me out. The little prick even gave me a wink in film study and said, “I got your back, Dougan!” That line is true.

I sprained my ankle and my mom came out on the court while the coach and ref were checking me out. I was only 7 or 8 years old and that was completely traumatizing.

Freshman year of basketball, checked in and immediately picked up three consecutive fouls and checked back out. Maybe :20 came off the clock.

I still maintain none of them were fouls. My coach disagreed.

Gave up about 10 runs in a LL game without getting an out. For good measure, I struck out 4 times in game and bunted the 5th time to avoid another one.

Playing baseball as a kid I had a tendency to sling the bat back after I got a hit making the catcher duck so he didn’t get his head taken off. Playing in right field as a 12 yr old and dropping easy catches because I would think about it during a game compared to practice when you just do it

Went down swinging with bases loaded, co-ed softball and a woman pitching.
Worse than that.........
On my way to play softball one night after work, hadn't eaten lunch and was extremely hungry so I stopped off at White castle for a few sliders (10) and onion chip and a LARGE big red. As I was rounding third base in the 3rd inning, a stomach cramp hit , which I thought , No big deal........
Well, It was a very big deal that left a trail all the way to home plate.......No more sliders for me.
