This could be fun and must be honest about it. We talk a little about it from time to time with both Zion s and Stanley's being very impressive but what is the average Joe's ? Probably at one time we've all sort of measured it. I at this time of my life can only guess at it simply because I don't have the energy and afraid if I try I may have a career ending injury.

OK to the best of my expectations I can go about 2 to 3 inches but I still can make a layup as long as there is no one there to block my shot. OFC

No running start and just jump straight up? I just tried it. I don’t have anything to actually measure with, but it looks to me like about 8”. I’m sure that if I lose a few pounds and work in technique, I can hit double digits! I am also sure that I don’t plan on doing either of those!!

I'm sure that beats the heck out of me. I'm not going to even try it, too many things can go wrong now.

What’s even worse than my vertical, was the look on my wife’s face when she walked in the room to see what the noise was, and sees me jumping up and down.
“What are you doing?”
“Checking my vertical”
“Omg”.....exits room

LOL! You better catch her, DukeKY, I bet she's calling the psychiatric ward now!

I can just imagine some of the DI guys reaching up and making a chalk line on the wall to where they can reach and then with that same piece of chalk in hand jumping straight up and making the chalk mark. I can also imagine the wife, kids or even the dog sitting there watching them wondering what the heck is he doing?

I guess you could say this thread doesn't have it's limits or on the other hand maybe it does. OFC

I saw @retiredsoldier soldier jump out of his seat at CTC when Zion dunked. He got some hops. And I didn’t see him jump, but @HonkeyT looked like she takes fitness somewhat seriously, so there might be some vertical there maybe?

LOL!

I may be a little butchy but I saw you looking me up at CTC. Don't deny my flyness!

Back in my prime I measured it @ 30 Inches from a flat jump now it's probably around 4 inches...and of course....that's what she said...

Sh** @DukefanKY. You already know! I've been known to jump and almost need an oxygen mask while still rising. I tried not to show it all at CTC and showcase all of my skills. But since you talked about me, here's an old clip lol.

In high school I once got to 31 inches. It’s a lot less now, though.

With a running start and off two feet, I’m still able to touch the rim today. I just don’t look very athletic doing so.
Are we talking grazing it due to maybe long nails or really touching it lol? Asking for a friend.

Not sure what my vertical was in high school. I could dunk my sophomore year. Nothing crazy because I couldn't palm the ball. Now with a volley before practice, I could do some things. I still think If I got lose, I could grab the rim lol.

Officially measured in the 80s at Prep Stars at 38 inches. Back then they only gave one rocker step. If I could have done what they can do now which is get a full head steam a slap that incremental measurement thingie. It would have been well into the 40s.
