I dropped 40 pounds in a year by running as much as I could (30-40 miles a week) drinking way less, no snacks and no desserts. From what I've read diet accounts for about 85% of weight loss. From my personal experience I'd say it's pretty accurate. One tip I found worked for me was to try to choose food by how it makes you feel and not how it tastes. That and being patient can make a huge difference.

This is how we removed hotdogs (and most processed meats- still love bacon) from our diet (whole family). If you go a good while w/o one and then eat one, I promise you can feel it working on you. It's like a sedative drug to me now. Nitrate/Nitrite hangover for a day or two.

Played basketball through college level. Mid 30's now. Didnt exercise for like 10 years after graduating. Then exercised regularly, running, p90x, stuff like that, supplements, etc, pretty religiously for 2-3 years. Now havent exercised in a couple of years. Weighed the same from high school til now, regardless of diet or exercise. 170ish give or take 2 pounds. Also, everyone calls me a vampire because I havent aged like them in terms of looks either. Superior genetics, ftw.

I just can't get into running. I want to stab my eyes after one mile. Being flat-footed doesn't help and I'm in some sort of leg pain by the end of it. Not sure I'm meant to pound pavement. No idea how people can bang out 5+ miles every day like it's nothing.

I love chopping three hard-boiled eggs with 1/2 avocado – salt pepper hot sauce. Great low-carb high-protein on the go breakfast.

Line muffin tin cups with shaved ham, turkey, or other lunch meat. Put a chunk of avocado in the bottom of the meat "cup". Crack an egg into it.

Bake @ 400 for 15 minutes.

Handy little "grab and go" breakfast.
