Up 35-10 and get blown out the rest of the way? Absolutely abysmal execution on the offensive side of the ball after looking like the best UK offense since 2007 for the first half. 28 yards total in the 2nd half? Against Southern Miss? Gran proved to me he's a darn good OC in the first half. So, what the hell happened?

Up 35-10 late in the first and you let their WR run free for a wide open TD? Who is coaching these guys? What the hell happened?

The second half the defense barely even slows them down after doing really well for much of the first half. Couldn't have been tired with our offense playing as well as they did. Completely blew a coverage right before the half and let them score late. Then, after resting, looked completely gassed the entire 2nd half. O didn't help any but no excuse for the first couple of TD drives by USM. None. Except, once again, Eliot, doesn't make any adjustments to what the other team is doing and they smoke us in the second half. With limited talent, wouldn't you try every trick in the book to overcome your talent deficiencies? What the hell happened?

I am so sick of hearing how this guy will be better after another year in the program, weight room, system, etc. When will you guys learn that UK players only very rarely get better year to year. Whole units (that's you, Dline) do NOT get better just because they're a year older. We have little to no talent up front, 4 years into Stoops' tenure. If we can't sign stud DL, then by God, CREATE them like Missouri does, like evidently USM does, like TCU did for years, et al. Our DL look so poorly prepared and unathletic and slow. I'd rather have 4 265-lb DL who can move and penetrate vs. the motley crew we field year after year. Stoops was/is a recruiter. What the hell happened?

This season, mercifully, is over already after one game. No chance for a bowl game. I'll watch them but I won't become attached to this team. It's over before it hardly began.

None of this "just happened." This happened midway through season 2 when Barney gave Stoops a million-year extension despite his lack of a solid track record.

Dawson is fired as our OC. This his offense runs all our Defensive minded head coach who fired him LOL. Doesn't get better than that.

No adjustments by the coaches. It's easy to look good on D when Mullens is throwing INTs. Once he calmed down DJ Elliot was clueless.

The interceptions in the first half saved us and made our defense look better than it was. We can't stop the run, its been so long that I can't remember when we could

What the hell happened? It's UK football. Same as it's ever been, to quote

Mark Stooops is what happened. This was a typical Stoops game. It's not an accident that we did the same to UL last 2 seasons. Same we saw against ULL and Eastern. Same hot mess against Vandy. This is just Mark Stoops football. And let's not say this was just the second half thing. Go back and watch that opening quarter again. The game started with back to back special teams debacles.

Dawson ran an offense tonight that everyone gripped and complained about when we ran the ball last year. If Dawson called more runs than passed everyone screamed for stoops to leave the offense alone.

Defense we knew was very suspect to the run, and to put them on the field for 40 minutes will win you exactly zero football games. Hurry up offense is pretty, but not what we need in a team this year to win games. We must shorten them, not run 100 snaps a game.

Words can't describe what happened tonight, just like the last game of the season last year, total self destruction after halftime. Another game where a small back drags 3 of our defense with him at least 3 or 4 yards every time he touches the ball. If Southern Miss gashes us on the ground every other team on the schedule will, something bad is wrong. The camera man should get a room with Dawson, I've never seen an assistant get so much face time in my life, It's going to be a long season folks.

This one is squarely on the coaches. Period.
We have better players. We know that. They showed up in first half and made the plays and looked good doing it. Then just like Louisville last year they got out coached.
Looks like another 5 win season at best. :/

"UK Football" is what happened.

I've been watching this horseshit for about 40 years and have reached the point where no degree of failure ever surprises me now. Just chalk it up to UK Football being UK Football. It's like they say in the GEICO commercials: "When you're UK football, this is just what you do."

No adjustments, lack of coaching in the second half led to another second half collapse. A mirror image of the last two years - in the first game.

Time for a major house cleaning of all coaches/staff.

Turning around UK football is just too big a job for a former coordinator turned first-time head coach. That's all there is to it.
He's a good guy but, doesn't have the ability to manage such an effort.
