The coldest game at Commonwealth Stadium in my opinion. Best part was Fran Curci in his post game press conference telling everyone that he went up to Johnny Majors before the game and told him we were going to kick your *** today.

I was not at that game, but you'd be hard-pressed to beat "coldest ever" when UK played Cincinnati in CWS in what the most frigid temps I have ever been a part of. There may have been 5,000-10,000 people there that day and it was absolutely miserable. I believe that this was during the curry years. We won, but just an awful day to sit outside in November.

Louisville, 2007. That place was insane when UK beat Louisville that year and the way UK did it was....WOW!

Naturally I cannot say the Louisville game in 2007. And I was not at the LSU game that year. Over the years I have seen some great games at CWS but most of the time the Cats came up short (e.g., the 7 OT loss to AR). Since I connote "favorite" with "win" I guess I'll go with the steak busting win against UT. Two pretty mediocre teams but it was a great win for a quarterback-less UK team.

Peace

Anyone remember the UK-Auburn game in 1964 when the Cats beat Auburn 21-0? If I remember correctly, Rodger Bird ran an interception back nearly 100 yards for a TD. I think that was the Auburn team with Tucker Frederickson and Jimmy Seidel, but I could be wrong. Of course this game was at Stoll Field, but it was a great atmosphere.

I'd say the Alabama game in 97 as I was on the field as a student trainer. CWS was going nuts--still have that picture up in my KY man cave!

I could be wrong (I'm getting old and memory sometimes fades.), but I think the coldest game you are referring to was Coach Curci's last game in 1981's 3-8 season, when we beat UT 21-10.

You are absolutely right, it was so cold it affected my memory

The first Louisville-Kentucky game.
The one in 94? My wife and I were there. It was great to beat the Cards that night. However leaving the stadium that night, how could anyone have known that UK wouldn't win another game all season?

Some one else mentioned this game.

After that game, I remember thinking: Damn, We have a football team and we did.

From the the vid posting on youtube:

Kentucky's Big Blue Defense, coached by Defensive Coordinator Charlie Bailey, totally dominates Penn State defensively in 1976 and 1977.
Penn State's lone lost in 1977 was to the Big Blue in Happy Valley.
Kentucky in 1976 shut out 3 of its last 4 opponents.
In 1977, the Kentucky defense only allowed 111 points and led in almost every SEC statistical category.
Kentucky recorded 2 shutouts in 1977 against Georgia in Athens, and against Va Tech.
No Kentucky defense since has even come close to the 1977 team.
And this was against a non-SEC schedule against the likes of North Carolina, West Va, Penn State, Baylor, and Va Tech.

Tear away jerseys were outlawed the next year by the NCAA, iirc:

Couple funny stories..

Alabama game..i dont get to go often being from georgia and living in alabama.. i was roughly 9 years old... sat with my dad in the bama section and they were so lame. Made the ushers tell us to sit down.

After the game, at a bar there was a sports radio show broadcasting from there. I volunteered for an interview... when it was time i froze and all i xould say was "kentuckys good".

Next wS the comeback against Arkansas. Im also a falcons fan.. after the game, the razorbacks bus was parked and loading... i saw petrino on the bus.. i snuck on, walked up to the stairs(he sat front row) and told him thanks for quitting the falcons as thdy were 4-0, and that he sucks, and flipped him the bird. State trooper then escorted me off bus, with a little smirk.

Some obvious choices. But I have had more fun when most of the crowd leaves and a few diehards just have a good time. The Charlotte game last year was fun. Started in my season ticket seat (203), by second quarter was front row mid field talking to Charlotte players. (Most never
Seen snow before until that night). One player caught his pants on fire from nearly setting on the heater.

Another fun game although was ugly was the 49-7 deficit against Florida. We brought in pulley who got it to 21. Wasn't 2500 people in stands, but was fun cheering on a team that was still fighting. Of course Georgia win, lsu, bama win were all great. Bit those two stick out as games that I had a good time and didn't remind me of most of the rest.
