No live sports to broadcast on their terrible network for the next few weeks.

If theres a coronavirus silver-lining, is it that ESPN gets fisted like a first time pornstar?

I never watch unless the mountaineers are playing on one of their channels.

Me too. I think ESPN is awful. I only get it for football season and only then because they have a monopoly on so many games. In a way though I wish I had it now because I'm curious to see what they're going to spend their time on. I read someone say they were going to do more SportsCenter to fill up the time and I thought to myself "What are they going to talk about during SportsCenter?"

Not just ESPN but Fox sports and sports talk radio in general. What are they talking about since no sports are going on? I have worked this week where no communication or radio was available.

Reruns. I still think Trump ought to televise his golf rounds. He could challenge Obama. Those two have probably played more rounds of golf than the other 43 presidents combined. Pay per view. Pay for most of the cost of testing.

They will slip some political content in there somehow.

I watched a replay of the Baylor game last night. I’ll be watching UFC tomorrow. No doubt the Trump virus hurts their programming.

Oh yeah..thats coming.

Definitely an interview of Coach K...

Coach K voice...

"I received the call...and said, no...no we cant. We made a promise. If we dont keep promises, how can they trust us.

Well I'm gonna coach them no matter what.. Because I said I always would."

Me, too. I would watch my alma play even if it's on a porn channel. Channel site is irrelevant as long as my Mountaineers are on the tube. But I'm glad they won't endanger Huggins Heroes by playing the Big 12 tournament or March Madness. There ARE some things more important than WVU sports, like not killing people.

If they dig into their archive, I would enjoy some mid-80s NBA....early Jordan.

to me the 1980s through the first 3 Jordan titles (1993) was the best era ever of the NBA. The game was physical (like hockey) where certain players were there as enforcers and not scorers. Hand checking and even grabbing holding and pushing away from the ball was legal or it wasn’t called anyways. I loved the fact that a foul was just a foul (no flagrants and no review).

Same...and they were so competitive.

Can you imagine Jordan playing in todays NBA with the defensive rules? He could average 45 per game.

And Seth Curry and Hardin would not be the players they are if they played back in that era. They would be smothered....

Finally!!!! Someone else sees it

Jordan averaged more points with tougher defensive rules (and I’m not just counting the Bad Boys who beat hell out of him) and there are young people today who think Lebron is neck and neck with him. Not in the same realm! I have heard of the “Jordan Rules” but never heard of the “Lebron Rules”

I loved the physicality of that era and the fact players on opposing teams were NOT friends, especially when they were rivals. Celtics-76ers didn’t get along. Celtics -Pistons didn’t get along. Bulls-Pistons didn’t get along. Lakers-Pistons didn’t get along. The Lakers -Celtics Hated one another. I still remember McHale close lining Rambus in the Finals and it was just a foul.

ESPN will let us all know Joey brackets has the whole field, because he probably tells the committee what to do, and all their "neutral analysta" will remind us that they know everything and we would all die without them

They will start replaying all those emotional personal stories about players they like to show on Gameday that has nothing to do with sports.

They could copy MTV and just start putting anything and everything on there even though it has nothing to do with music.

Currently I love basketball is being shown on ESPN 2. I would say they are desperate.

I'm guessing ratings for all media is going to see an all time low on weekends.

Why? People are mostly stuck in their houses with no where to go. Not much to do other than watch TV.

Don't even have my TV on. Just didn't see the purpose in watching 24/7 coronavirus updates.

Jordan, LeBron and Jerry West are on the mountaintop. So are Bill Russell, Lew Alcindor. But it IS hard to compare players from different era because each player adapted to the environment that he was in. Who's to say that Jordan and LeBron, as great as they are, would NOT have adapted well into the other's era?

I agree. A player can only play by the rules in place at the time. I mean you can talk about the rough and pounding nature of the old school NBA in Jordan's time. However, Jordan was 6'6, 216lbs while LeBron James is 6'9, 250lbs while being as fast and as agile as Jordan. Now just being physically better doesn't translate lest Terrell Owens or Randy Moss would be the greatest receiver instead of Jerry Rice. Yet, it is not unreasonable to say that LeBron at least has the physical tools and ability to compete in the old school NBA just as Jordan did. I do recognize that at least in the old school there was much more parity rather than the last 10 years or so where only 4-6 teams out of the 30 have a legitimate shot at making the Finals and thus the playoffs are a joke outside of one match-up on each side before the Finals.

Jordan would adapt to the current era great..there is no defense, he would crush. MJ was an elite defender...imagine if he conserved all his energy and went against a no-touch defense that gave you 2 steps and no contact at the hoop?

LeBron would have more trouble. His numbers would drop....

West is an all time great but doesnt get put with those two....he is a top 15-25 player. Not a top 1-5 player.

LeBron is kinda soft.

Id love to see Dennis Rodman defend him in a playoff...

Again that is in this era. Who knows how he would respond in a different era. He clearly has the physical tools to compete in Jordan's era and if that was the style of play required to play in the league, I'm guessing that's what he would've played to get that money.

Doesn't seem like a trait that gets turned on or off ..but ok..

I think Kobe would have been fine.

I'm not able to read a person that I've never met or conversed with much. You seem to be saying IS soft and I can only attest to he PLAYS soft. To take a football example, 20-30 year ago DB's would say all modern DBs are soft after watching them play within today's rules.

Semantics.

Yes, he plays soft. He is whiny.

They would laugh Lamoan James off the court with his flopping, whining and drama when he would stub his toe and roll all over the floor till they went to commercial.

You're talking about superstar players. They would adapt to any level any era. These guys weren't big time for nothing.

No, West is not a top 5 player.

I'd say he could be in the discussion from Top 10 - 15.

Jordan, Russell, Magic Johnson, Bird, Lebron, Kareem, Chamberlain....really no room for West in that particular group.

He is part if the next group, Kobe, Duncan, Robertson, Shaq

How would Lebrons numbers do anything but decline if he had to play in a league with greater physical defense and stronger interior play?
