What year did you become a Penn State fan? Kwalick or Warren?

I don't think you can compare the TE position from the late 60's game to today's game- the sport has changed too much over that time.

1964 Penn State 24 U of Houston 7 was my first game and I've been a loyal Nittany Lion addict ever since.

I agree with Nitt1300 that it's not a fair comparison considering the changes in the game from 1960s to the present.

However, Ted Kwalick was selected as a 2-time All American, indicating he must have been considered a superior player at TE by coaches/media of his era. And he even returned a failed onside kick for a touchdown against Army in 1968.

Since you mentioned Warren. I am a Colts fan and season tix holder. My Warren Colts Jersey game today. Excited to see what he can do for Colts in his first season.

I don’t know exactly when but it was probably 1972 or 1973.

What i do remember getting me hooked was watching the PSU highlights show every Sunday morning. I’m not even sure why i started watching it but i know watched it every week. I grew up in PGH and PSU competed with Pitt and ND highlight shows. Grambling, too

Tyler Warren was the best. Became a fan when I got tickets in the military at the Pentagon for the 1969 PSU/Navy game. We won 45-23; Starting backfield: Charlie Pittman and Don Abbey; backup 2nd team backfield: a couple of guys named Lydell and Franco.

74-75, never saw TK play, but Warren could do it all.

1968 from the Syracuse game onward and never looked back.
Warren best TE, Godwin best WR, Barkley best RB, Allar best QB from talent perspective, Collins best from intangibles. Mark Robinson best S, Bruce Clark best DL and Shane C best LB. I know we all love #11s these days but great players play great in big games (1st law of Madden) and Shane played the best any LB at PSU ever played in the 1987 Fiesta Bowl against the convicts.

Conlan still the best LB I've ever seen at PSU as well, no disrespect to J. Ham.

So many great TEs...hard to compare different eras....1a. Kwalick, 1b. Warren, 1c. Brady, 2. Vyto since we had many classes together.
