What's going on with Booker?

He's been on every team's defensive radar the last half of the season. The freshmen this year had the luxury of having some guys in front of them who got the attention. It really helped them develop vs other years under Cal when the freshmen were thrown right into the midst of things. Now though everyone knows about Booker and his importance to the team. He gets constant attention, and then when he is open likely rushes it at bit a times. He just needs to understand, and relax. He'll be fine. I think he shows though he has a ways to go, and would likely benefit by returning.

Without looking at the stats myself, if that's actually what he shot in HS, then that 2 month span of hot shooting around December is now an aberration, like it or not.

Hate to say it, but at this point Booker has had just as many off games as he has had on game.. maybe more. Not so sure we should be calling this a "slump" anymore..

We have been giving up easy shots under the basket too, I don't think its a big secret to anyone. Luckily we have someone step up every game and makes a difference and lately its seems to be KAT and thats great. But to say we have been playing perfect is a stretch, the Ga game was terrible and both Fla games have been a mediocre effort especially in the first half. I think UK will go 40 and 0 and I am hoping the less than stellar play is from boredom of playing the same SEC teams again and they are just ready for the NCAA to begin.
It's OK to admit you are a Troll. Trolls need love and a home and you'll find lots of that here. Who has said we are playing perfect?? Our record is perfect. The thing is when other teams have an off night they lose........we don't.

Booker is just rushing his shot, just a tad. All he needs to do is get his feet under him,and also drive to the hoop more.

Mid part of the season when he was shooting 'lights out' could he have been playing a little over his head? I don't know. You'd have to be in practice every day, following his shooting for several years to know exactly.
Yes. And many were calling him a complete BUST. Imagine that? Calling a college freshman a complete bust after a handful of games. I'm sure they are have a crapeatin grin on their faces at the moment.
Booker will come outa the slump and be a huge reason we take #nine, this year. Book it!

By your logic then almost everyone on this thread is a troll since most have pointed out that Booker is in a slump. Obviously we have a perfect record, but we are not unbeatable; however I do think we will win it all.

He's still running the floor and making layups and dunks. I'm not worried about Devin. He'll get out of the slump soon enough.

I love Booker, and I'm VERY glad we have him on our team, but he's obviously a somewhat streaky shooter. He was forcing more than a few shots a few games ago, but seems to have lately realized that a part of his game has to be realizing when he's hot and -- more particularly -- when he's not !

Hope he comes out of his slump today. He should have plenty of opportunities to fire up a bunch of 3's today without any significant negative impact on the 'Cats controlling the game. We NEED Booker to come out of his slump.

Go 'Cats ! ! !

Good point. They will have to adjust. Would like to see Booker start to get his shot back before the big dance. Stretches the defense when he's in there and opens up the post.

We seem to be trying to make him a bigger part of the offense lately by running him off screens and looking at him as a primary scoring option. He gets his best looks from spotting up and getting the ball kicked out from the post or from penetration from the other guards. His shots look rushed sometimes when he's coming off screens. His confidence is probably suffering a little right now too.

He spoiled us with all of his 50% 3-ball shooting. He's still shooting 42% from there. Pretty good. He's being guarded more closely. The child is only 18 years old. He's nervous. 32-0. Pressure. He could come out of this slump at any moment. You didn't really think he would be a 50% 3-ball shooter did you?Have faith. He'll be aiight.

I don't know about that. The 2010 team might have a different opinion.

My issue is that if poor 3pt shooting continues, opposing teams will begin to slack off our guys, pack the lane, and make an already poor 2-foot shooting team even worse. We need to hit the threes to keep opposing teams in check.. When Booker, Ulis and Aaron were tearing it up in December, it wasn't just because of the additional points.. it opened everything else up.

I already bet that a few tourney teams are going to do just that, and hope for the best. They will crowd the paint, force our bigs to work, and dare our shooters to hit it from deep... and if we have an off-day we could be sent home early.

Has to be mental to a large degree. Even an average shooter rarely air-balls wide open, uncontested three's. I'm sure he's pressing whether he realizes it or not. He may or may not come out of it the rest of the year. It will hurt greatly if he doesn't; altho in any case defenses still have to respect him.

I like the 'Book It' statement. That should be a crowd chant when he makes a three.

Don't forget: he just got on Spring Break. After tomorrow's game he'll have all kinds of time to work himself out of this slump and you know he'll take advantage of it. I'm not worried at all.

We are not a poor "2foot" shooting team anymore. KAT is really a go to guy down there now. So there's that as far as packing the lane goes.

Part of the reason Booker is shooting so poorly, is because of Defense. Teams will pick their poison with us, right now they are chosing to stop the 3.

Lots of wrong in this thread, as usual.

KAT is 1 of 3 post players (including dakari and wcs).. While HE is coming in to his own, dakari and wcs are still struggling with putbacks, layups, and gimmes.

And Booker was clearly struggling for a while with his shot.. He's playing better today (had a gimme on the auburn flop), but let's not forget he airballed a wide open shot the other day.. It's more than just defense on him.

The 2010 team didn't have to hit threes to win it, they just didn't realize that apparently. They went 3-33 and should have never shot 33 times from behind the arc. This team never shoots half that many and is one of the best mid range shooting teams they've had in a while .

We started pounding WV in that game inside with Cousins and Patterson and then WV went off from 3. For some reason, instead of continuing to pound it inside, we started playing to match WV from outside and that just killed us. Never did understand that.
