What's in the afterlife and what is the point?

So your parent dies and you miss them then eventually you die and you go to the afterlife and you see your parent again. Then what? You tell them about what happened in your life after they died, assuming they don't already know since maybe part of the afterlife is getting to see what is going on with the people that aren't in the afterlife.

So what else? If there stuff going on in the afterlife that your dead parent that you've been reunited with can catch you up on? Or what?

Presbyterians believe in reincarnation. I don't object to the religion, but damned if it wouldn't be fightin words to send me thru this grinder again. May I settle for one trip thru. Really don't think I can improve on this one.

Presbyterians believe in reincarnation? I didn't know that. I didn't think any Christians believed in reincarnation. I thought that was the domain of the Hindus and Buddhists.

You have no idea what you're talking about on anything ...

Reincarnation
Various Eastern religions propose that when you die, you are reborn as another person or animal. All the world has been on an endless cycle of death and rebirth: you continually get "another chance" until you finally get it right. Presbyterians argue that Scripture does not teach reincarnation; it points us toward eternal life in the presence of God. Moreover, believing in reincarnation is a very severe form of believing in works righteousness, because reincarnation teaches that you must live your life over and over until you have attained to a level of goodness that frees you from the rounds of human existence.

And before you go attacking the first source, here's another:

Do Presbyterians believe in reincarnation or eternal life?

Presbyterians believe that scripture does not teach reincarnation; it points us toward eternal life in the presence of God. We do not believe in an endless cycle of death and rebirth so that we continually get another chance to attain a certain level of goodness.

Ancient orthodoxy and Jewish beliefs, as well as the Holy Scripture referred to reincarnation, but it is not spoken in modern...... .

I think he meant Predestination, I'm a Presbyterian Elder in my Church and we do NOT believe in reincarnation.

Yeah, I know, such questions are pointless to people that have a "Don't worry about it, God will make sure it turns out okay" attitude but not everybody has that attitude.

What are you going to do with your deceased relatives after you go to Heaven BESIDES basking in the glory of God? Talk about the Super Bowls they missed?

It's all about you. It's ok. As I understand your situation, you won't have to worry about these issues.

LOL. So me wondering what we'll be doing in the afterlife means it's all about me? I think a good case could be made that the only reason people believe in an afterlife in the first place is because they can't bear the thought of themselves or people they love continuing indefinitely. I'd say that not believing in an afterlife in the first place is the less narcissistic path.
