Right on. I agree. Time to start coaching the young players not sitting their watching the disaster.
Defense is clearly missing from this team. K's forte is hard nosed work ethic and D. But, it's not there and that's the one hope for this team. Several reasons:
1) They, especially the freshmen, haven't had time in practice. Take Giles. I think he wants to play good D but I think he's slower than he was when 100% and also a bit timid and just doesn't grasp the 'team D' factors yet.
2) Amile's absence is a killer. He's the true leader of the team, The most mature. And, the best defender.
3) Desire. The team needs to believe that this will bring good things but until then it won't happen.
4) K's absence. You have to think that Capel is feeling pressure to get it done if he wants a realistic shot at being the next Duke coach. Feel bad for him given how several of these guys are just not performing.
The positives:
1) Sometimes stepping away and watching from a distance can help you see things differently. No doubt K is watching on TV and watching on tape. That may help us when he returns. But, he really has his work cut out for him in terms of talking with each kid and letting them know he believes in them; that the early season has been a disaster; and that there is potential to turn it around.
2) Amile's return. Hopefully the injury is not a serious issue. Duke is always so secretive that you think a kid is a week or two away and then a week turns into a month. But, if he's only a couple of more games out - when he returns he'll be a huge boost on D and in maturity.
Bottom line: even with all that, the competition and maturity level of the rest of CBB is going to be tough to overcome.

Duke crushed GT . We are clearly better than they are. Can't go by the who beat who game, especially at a Duke /UNC game.
