Right, I think Stoops may be a better coach than he has shown.
Vince Marrow is an excellent recruiter & some of our coaches
have gotten some good kids outside of Ohio.

We have the facilities that help us compete with the contenders.

You have a great but very frustrated fan base.

Wrong, Stoops needs to let Gran & Henshaw do their thing & quit
micro managing them.

We need to get a grip on our sideline activity. It's a Chinese
fire drill at times.

We need to get rid of the 3-4 along with DJ Eliot. Bad coach.
IMO we did not hire Pelene (sp) because he had some baggage
& that did not sit well with our Jesus Freak athletic director.
He is supposed to be a very good friend of Stoops but I think
Stoops was told, no way.

I think the clock is ticking on Schlarman as I do not see much
improvement in line play.

I think if Stoops lets Eliot go & puts Schlarman on notice or
fired him too, let Gran alone we could be pretty good next season.

Barnhart hired Coach Stoops, so now just let him do his thing, hire who he wants, and if it doesn't work out, get rid of him. He should not be telling him who to hire, and who not to hire.

OLD STOLL FIELD GUY!

Our D Line is a mess. I'm a smashmouth football kind of fan. The game is always won in the trenches. Without the foundation of a solid line, the rest of the defense is left to pick up the slack. I'm not too worried about offense, and really liked what I saw in the first half last saturday. On D, our secondary is great and improving. However, without a decent D Line, we will have to outscore opponents all season. Which in the SEC, is as tough as ever.

I.m not too sure the entire team is not a mess. Two first downs offensively the second half won't win you many games, and the defense has pretty sucked since Elliot took over 4 years ago.

This is a myth this year. The SEC looked 7 kinds of awful on opening weekend.

-MSU and UK sh*t down our legs against inferior opponents
-USC and Vandy looked like two high school teams who couldn't get out of their own way
-Missouri managed to run 91 plays before their first TD
-LSU looked putrid offensively
-Florida was leading 10-7 after 3Q against a MAC team that's only been FBS for less than five years
-UT needed OT to beat Appalachian State

Alabama basically looked like UK basketball, salvaging the conference.

This all day! Should Brumbaugh be on the hot seat as well? I guess we could make the argument its not his fault no talent is there but well, who's fault is that. You have to recruit them or coach them up

How do we know Stoop's is not running and calling the defense? He might be the problem. I don't think he turns this over to Elliot and gives him full control.

Very true. It was a stinker this past weekend offensively for a lot of SEC teams. I wonder how much was first week, and how much of it is endemic to the state of their respective offenses. However, I have no doubt a lot of those teams could put up major points on us, simply by running it, force us to pack the box, then air it out. When our D Line is this worrisome, adjustments need to be made in game. Unfortunately, I didn't see any last weekend.

That stat is very worrisome, but offenses go through ebbs and flows too. Florida State the other night put up quite the stinker offensively in the first half, especially if you take out the last second drive before half. The problem is defensively, our line has to improve against the run. This has been a problem every year of Stoops team. The run d is atrocious. I don't care if we give up a big play once in a while through the air, but being demoralized on the ground every snap takes its toll on the defense. Forces us to pack the box, and then all you really need is a play action call to take advantage.

Maybe it needs stating again, but the offense only had 14 snaps in the 2nd half.

2 first downs isn't terrible. And let's not forget what they did in the first half when the defense actually got them the ball.

Right now, this program is very close. More talent on the DL. A bit more talent on the OL. A better defensive play caller who's better at making adjustments (our initial game plans have almost always been excellent).

Everything else is set

The contract extension really hurt....Stoops will get one more year unless he goes 2-11. :weary:
