Actually there's no difference.
A thief is a person that's in possession of something they didn't pay for
A deadbeat is a person that's in possession of something they didn't pay for
It's my understanding that the Bible says that a person that doesn't pay their bills, is the same as stealing.
In other words they are both scum of the earth.

deadbeat - (noun) an idle, feckless, or disreputable person.
thief - (noun) a person who steals another person's property, especially by stealth and without using force or violence.

I'll take thief over a deadbeat.
A deadbeat is just a lazy, unimaginative, uncreative, stupid M-Fer. A thief will at least make plans, follow through & shows desire.
Both are a POS

I'm a thief I guess. But I'm not a deadbeat. I pay taxes on the things I buy legally with the money I make from my "rental" properties.

My "rentors" give me a percentage of the money they "make".

It's cool. I think.
