This SC team is rightfully getting lots of praise heading into the year, but what are some things that you think could go wrong (aside from injuries) that could sink the season?

My most pessimistic take is that Sellers won't turn out to be all that he's been hyped to be this offseason. He is rightfully getting a lot of praise based on his play down the stretch, but the reality is that it's a handful of games. He was getting no hype/buzz through the first 6 games of the season. I think we have every reason to be excited about him going into the season. But my excitement is balanced with cautious pessimism that maybe he'll be one of countless other college QBs who had a flash of success but could never replicate it. Every take from every pundit projects us having a good year b/c of Sellers (and almost solely because of Sellers).

Even if Sellers is all we hope he can be, will other offensive threats emerge? Will Harbor finally become what we all hoped he'd be? He showed some flashes last year. Will a RB1 emerge in the absence of Sanders?

With the loss of Kennard, can we get another player to complement Stewart?

There is a lot to be excited about, but also much to be concerned about.

Regression to the mean. Last season surprised pretty much everyone. I think it was a combination of the D being much better than anticipated and the schedule ending up to not be as hard as predicted (aTm and OK were supposed to be strong and turned out to be weak as water) combining to create a season with two or three more wins than should have been realistically hoped for.

The over/under on wins this season is 7.5. Last season I think it was 5.5. 6-6 this season would average out those two seasons to our historic results as a program. 5-7 is my most pessimistic view.

Here are the challenges I see. No true #1 RB and no RB on the roster that has anyone remotely excited, Sellers being a known threat that DCs will scheme for, WR corps questionable, much of the talent on D has moved on from last season and special teams losing pretty much every important position from last season. All of these things could contribute to a disappointing season.

Defense taking an even bigger step back than most are expecting and mirroring a Whammy Ward D.
Whammy bad 😂😂😂 made me laugh and brought back some awful memories at the same time.
Hopefully not that bad but 5 guys got drafted, so its tough to expect we'll be good on that side of the ball

Outside of injuires, I would say a largely one-dimensional offense similar to the one we saw against Illinois in the bowl game.
Sub par OL play leading to no running game, coupled with inability to only block 3 pass rushers and seeing 8 in coverage is a big fear of mine

I kinda agree except that Idiot substituting up to 2 or 3 seconds left on play clock. That had to hamper coaches and Sellers.

Questions marks for the OL along with ST, unknown commodity in regards to the D, and not knowing what kind of offense Shula wants to implement, now throw in LSU, Oklahoma, and Bama, back to back to back during October (mid season).

Unless OK is much improved, they should be a win. Venables has proven to be a failure as a head coach.

Keep going back and forth on this game. Their offense has been the issue during his tenure. He brought in WSU oc (air raid) and his proven QB. Doubt our D gets us a 3 td lead early. So expecting a completely different game. Still like us at home but thoughts of the last air raid offense we faced and their receivers consistently behind our safeties still linger

Shane gets hired at Sooners, AD departs for USC-W, Ray makes a comeback and re-hires Muschamp.

You saved me the time to type this. Just think if we had Rocket back along with the continued development of Nyck Harbor and Mazeo Bennett. Plus, if we had our D-Line and LB's back. This would have been a Top 5 team in the country.

Yeah at some point we should've quit subbing as much
Shane not being able to figure that out really made me wonder about his real coaching ability. He looks more and more like Dabo 2.0, a cheerleader and likeable guy but not a real football genius. His psycho demeanor on the sideline in that game made him look like a clown.

Bielema is a giant douche (and known to be so among Big 10 fans) and it was a bush league move on his part, BUT at some point Shane had to realize he was going to keep doing it and the refs were going to allow it. His frustration, annoyance and stubbornness played a major part in costing us that game. It was an emotional/psychological chess match between Bielema and Beamer and Beamer lost big time.
