Basically, I put a lot of **** on my face, but it's baby smooth until around 1:30 or so.

Well, I'm married with three kids, so I think I'd identify as that.
Oh, good. Another shaving thread. One dude will come on here extolling the virtues of a single blade and brush; another will scoff and say all he needs is water and a Bic; some other guy will laugh at them both and say he shaves in the shower and it takes 30 seconds. Looking forward to it!
Like Funky, I'm a Dorco user. Using the 3 now and I've used a 6. The 6 is great but not the best for edging around a beard. Dorco makes a nifty looking safety razor set I may consider.
As for the shaving cream, I'm currently using a weird, fruity smelling hair conditioner that my wife was going to throw out. I'll spend fifteen bucks on a six pack of beer but sometimes I'm so cheap I scare myself.

Hair absorbs some moisture and is softer after a shower. I tried it and it really does make a difference. Much less skin irritation too.
Dollar Shave Club - Humble Twin with some Nivea shave gel that was on Amazon for cheap - in the shower.
Sometimes, I end up shaving with my soap, Dr. Bronner's (Peppermint at the moment).
There are some fetishists on here and who use shaving products terms as "code words" for other kinds of "personal accessories" (think "butt stuff" - the more specific & expensive the product the grosser the associated pleasure act). You've been warned.

DSC or Mach 3, in the shower, no shaving cream. Shave face/head.
...do have a Harry's trial on the way to see how it compares.
DSC (Dorco) blades are inferior to Mach 3 no question as far as endurance goes, but not when you use a new blade for EVERY shave. They're fine. Have about 80 DSC blades stocked up from a few years...use a new blade each time.
Anyone who doesn't shave IN the shower is an idiot.

Big second on the Cremo - best shaving cream I have found, especially for shaving the head.
Shower shave, and finish with Thayers alcohol-free witch hazel afterwards.
Gillete Fusion in the shower. Just the water while I have shampoo in my hair might put a little on my face. Takes about 30 seconds, don't see why anyone wouldn't do it this way.
Schick Quattro and whatever shaving gel is on sale whilst showering. Use a new blade every month or so.

Maybe if you are shaving your head as well as your chin, neck etc...then you should shave in the shower and just consolidate it all there. I don't shave my head so it works better to lather and shave in the sink. Mach 3, Barbasol original.
Oh, and for the record...you are pretty much an idiot wherever you shave.

No longer shave. Use a T-edger trimmer. Got sick and tired of wasting money on every type of anti-razor bump razor/creme that ever came out. Magic Shave DID work fine, but that was too much freaking work.
Softening the beard prior to shaving is 3/4 of the battle. A product like Jack Black Face Buff (edit: while showering) really softens the beard and gets rid of dead skin and any ingrown hairs. A soft beard will also increase the useful life of your blades. Then use a good quality shave cream like Proraso and your razor of choice. Finish with an after shave cream/balm (not an alcohol based product) to sooth your face.
