Any WoT fans here?

Sony is bringing the books to Amazon Prime and filming recently started. They have cast the seven primary roles and it is expected to premier in early 2021.

I am a huge fan of the books and was curious if anyone else in BBN is as well.

I am also a big fan of the books. I think it will be quite challenging to make into a good TV series. I will watch, but dont have high hopes.

They have a great crew attached, the showrunners are proven and Amazon has committed to matching the per episode budget equivalent to GoT's.

I am in agreement that the scope is going to be difficult to manage and translate to the screen, but if they can manage scope along with staying true to the heart of the story.

I am cautiously optimistic

Big fan too. Hope this is good enough to last long enough to tell the story. It'll take years to tell though.

Yes! Hopefully GRR Martin doesn’t have to have a Brandon Sanderson to finish his series.

Loved the series. So many characters made it a little hard to follow sometimes, but overall it was a very enjoyable read. I just hope the TV series lives up to the books. I know the Sword of Truth series a few years ago was a bit of a letdown.

whats the jest of the story

At its core it is a farm boy to Messiah story, the first 150 pages or so are a direct homage to LoTR's.

But the world building and story telling are so in depth and so well thought out that it feels "new".

WoT... When I was 16, started reading it, and liked it a lot. As I grew older my awareness of its SJW message became more obvious, until I really just couldn't bare it. Skipped the last five books, just read the last one to get closure. Sad part was, I missed nothing skipping all those other books. Lots of people would like it. Lots of people won't. I'll pass on the tv show.
