This has been ongoing since Tom retired and anointed Solich. Then, what? Solich was too short, and could not recruit. Pelini was the best chance, but I suspect whiskey and coke got him. Callahan, WTH, was fired by the Raiders. Still coaching OL in the NFL, I think. Riley? Good coach, bad match. Frost (I never did like him when he went to Cal); then, he came crying back to TO, who made him a "star." If I was a coach? Wouldn't want this job.

This goes way above Rhule. I mean come on, how can we continue to miss with coaching. Something is going on above in the athletic department, something is wrong here. Definition of Insanity….

Yeah its called money. Keep the seats filled.. Hick-backward Nebraska crap for 25 years. And so it continues...Tom the legend? Yes he was no question. Top 6 all-time. The reason we are in the position we are at? Yes Tom. Not 100 percent, but 75. Read between the lines and you will get it. In the meantime, go Matt (.500 spitter ) Kenneth Rhule!!! At least Tom had class and was a great coach, but put the puzzle together and have the balls to say it. The posters "in the know" (and there are few, but some) understand where I am coming fom.

Drunk? Yes. Ridicule me again about Matt kenneth Rhule now. You pobably won't will yah? I have been saying what a turd he is since day one. Not that I give a shite, but it does feel good to be right. And drunk or not, I freaking love it. Have a Happy New Year! And shave once in a while and show that you are a leader of men (if that is your profession). Temple is long gone, you .500 millionaire used-car salesman slob. Anyway, have a safe and happy New Year to all!!!!

The wheels are already off and just running on the rims now
Weird way to say it but the positive is we know we are going to suck next year. It's an absolute that we are going to get blown out more than a few times. Like ugly blown out. Maybe even by a team like Maryland or Rutgers.

I would laugh my *** off if we lost to North Dakota and that could happen.

Is that ever the case? Memories are short. By June most of the board will be chugging the kool-aid.
Depends largely on what they do in the portal. Gotta find a right tackle, a QB and a stud DT. TJ isn’t the guy. 3 guys could help immensely. Even then we witnessed last night what can happen when OSU changed the play caller. I’m very skeptical that the coaching changes we made will change the O line or or defense’s performances.

It's more about coaching. I am absolutely convinced our coaching staff would have Indiana's team at 7-5
I’m not exactly sure what anybody expected last night. We started our 3rd string RT at RT and our 4th string RT at RG. Lateef isn’t the answer and the middle of our defense has been soft all year. I give the staff credit for the first two scores and the way we somewhat slowed down their offense early in the game. Dana had a good early plan which I think it took a few series for Utah’s DC to correct but they were clearly superior in the trenches and at QB.

I don’t think there’s much Dana could do. The right side of our O line was the worst I’ve ever seen at NU. Lateef backpedaled in to several sacks. There’s no way Corcoran can slow down an edge rusher if TJ doesn’t step up in to the pocket. As I expected, their lines mauled us.

I don't think that's going to happen to the extent it did the last 2 seasons.

It's pretty obvious that the emperor has no clothes.

I am not a football coach so impossible for me to say coaching is the problem. However in watching the playoff games it is very obvious to me that Husker players lack the speed, size, weight and ability as compared to the elite teams. No coach can win without at least some elite players. Yes the Huskers have a few but seriously lack those in the D and O lines. That is where games are won or lost. NU is hard place to recruit to and Nebraska high schools do not seem to turn out the quality of players like in the past. Guess it now boils down to money sadly!

No, it’s called no legit coach wants to come here. It’s too hard to recruit. Guys don’t want to live on a plane or drive across corn fields. It’s not hard to figure out. I always laugh when people can’t figure out the captain obvious!!

Yeah there are no cornfields in Indiana, that's why Cignetti is winning there

Yep.

The #1 job of any coaching staff is to fill the roster with players who have speed, size, weight and ability.

Especially in CFB, where coaching staffs have a significantly greater amount of control over roster makeup than high school or pro coaches.

You can develop those traits, buy those traits, or some of each.

Rhule was crystal clear that his philosophy was to develop those traits.

So, how's that gone heading into year 4?

Who has developed on the OL?

Who has developed on the DL? (Robinson and Hutmacher were not his recruits).

EJ developed to a tremendous degree.

Who else?

If our coaches cannot field a team that has speed, size, weight and ability, they need to be replaced with coaches that can.

Yeah and EJ was a Frost recruit. So were our leading tacklers (Gavin, DeShon) and most of our starting O-Line. Rhule hasn't done anything to upgrade the talent on this team.

Ever been to Lubbock?
then again Texas Tech has like 70+ players from Texas. So they can fill a roster with guys from their backyard (albeit a very large backyard). Add in the bags of money they have and life is good for the Red Raiders. They can get/buy good players from out of state to create a roster we can only dream of.
