Sorrento claims it has COVID-19 cure
May 15, 2020 9:17 AM ET|About: Sorrento Therapeutics,... (SRNE)|By: Douglas W. House, SA News Editor

Sorrento Therapeutics (NASDAQ:SRNE) gallops 56% premarket on robust volume in reaction to reports that it has discovered an antibody, dubbed STI-1499, that, it says, can provide 100% inhibition of COVID-19 and flush out the SARS-CoV-2 virus from the body within four days.

"We want to emphasize there is a cure," says CEO Henry Ji. "If we have the neutralizing antibody in your body, you don't need the social distancing. You can open up a society without fear."

The antibody, one of "hundreds" it screened, blocks the coronavirus' spike proteins from attaching to ACE2, a receptor on the surface of healthy cells that serves as a "doorknob" to open the cell to infection.

Ji says STI-1499 can be used as preventative therapy since there are no unwanted side effects, adding that it may be more effective than a vaccine.

The company is partnering with NY-based Mount Sinai to develop an antibody cocktail, Covi-Shield, comprised of three different antibodies, including STI-1499, for prophylactic use. It says it can produce up to 200K doses per month and is looking to produce "tens of millions" to meet demand.

anyway, cowtown, I want to be in on the ground floor once 5G becomes reality. Have heard of a small Cali company, trading under 10 bucks, which some claim in the linchpin of the 5G revolution since the big players will have to buy their patented chip. Can't find out the stock symbol though I'm trying to find it out thru the back door. You know anything about that?

I don’t do it currently, I work here locally now. I used to install, troubleshoot and integrate 2G, 3G and 4G LTE. I also did co locate and core (central office) install/test and turn up work. When I very first started, I did tower construction and lines and antennas, with my uncle, back in 1999. Then, in 2000, I started building Ericsson switches. In 2001, is when I started doing the RAN (radio, cell site) work.

How would someone get into the 5G installment/repair service now? Can you send me a private message (I dont know how to pm)?

I’m not sure how to initiate a convo on here tbh. Well, you would most likely need to go get the certifications first. Do you have any experience?

No, I guess that's what I'm asking is where to start. I work 6 months out of the year basically and want something I can start as an additional career or a fall back type thing.

Well, I’ll tell you something. This 5G project is gonna be so big that they’ll be hiring people right off the streets to do it. They’re gonna have trouble getting enough manpower to work on it. Supposed to be a 5-10 year gig. Also, it will pay very nicely. You probably won’t wanna do anything else once you get your feet wet. I get offers just to do 4G upgrades of $40+ a hour consistently.

The wife and I are seriously thinking about looking into buying a RV and hitting the road. We’ve kicked the idea around for a long time. We’re just playing it by ear at this juncture. If the right situation comes down the pike, we’re out of Cowtown! [laughing]

Edit: Anything you’re wanting to do in 5G, they’re gonna require you to go get certified, regardless.

I actually do know about that. I do not know the company, however. I sure wish that I did. I’ve actually been trying to figure that out for myself.
