When Comey testifies he didn't feel like Trump was intending to obstruct

I have to ask myself this question.

At what point do we reach critical mass with the media? I guess what I'm saying is it is very obvious of the agenda of the various news outlets left and right. But obviously, I'm going to focus on the left leaning media, specifically the NYT and the WaPo. At what point do they cross the line from journalism and free press to treason? Same could be said for Rush and FNC during the Obama years. The NYT and WaPo are fake newsing the **** out of us. At what point does their behavior constitute an attempted coup? Does it ever?

Just some afternoon wondering aloud.

Unfortunately, media corruption (intentionally misleading the public) is not a crime. If the libel laws were loosened, you would see less of this. Personally, if a media outlet intentionally (and it can be proven in court) lies with the intent to harm a national figure (politician, celebrity, etc.), I think they should be subject to libel. But as it stands now, a national figure can almost never get a libel suit to stick.

Thank you for calling out the hypocrisy of BOTH sides in this foolishness. Personally, I think people on the left insinuating the Comey was directly asked to drop the investigation by Trump are direpecting Coney's commitment to the law. As if he wouldn't do more than write a memo. Ridiculous.

Moreover, Comey is required by law to report it to the DOJ and not doing so would be a criminal offense.

If it can be proven in court that a media outlet intentionally mislead the public, it should be a crime, libel suit or not...imo

I agree, but the libels laws are so generous to the media, it is almost impossible to win.

It's tough, because scrutiny of public figures sometimes rely on speculation from sources close to those figures. Most of the time these sources have personal motivations for defaming the public figures. The lines get blurred, but we still need the scrutiny.

You normally rely on the media to do the due diligence required. Use multiple sources, hopefully on the record sources. Be skeptical. Conduct independent investigations to attempt to corroborate.

But today, I don't think the media is acting in this way as they used to. JMO.

Establishing an American Journalism Association similar to the Bar Association that liscences journalists, networks, and media publications would be a possible option. Once an organization or journalist is "disbarred", they lose access and credibility. Establishing an unbiased and uninfluenced governing body would be near impossible though.

Agreed. Many have taken Trump as a kind of personal challenge, and just want to win the fight.

I'd prefer to let the market answer that question. If they have no audience, they have no influence. I turn them off, or refuse to read them because they have lost credibility with me.

That's pretty much the case with most of the main stream major media...I simply do not trust their reporting. I get my news from other more credible sources, and I find myself better informed, and better equipped to decide what actually is true and what's bogus.

The market answers your question, and as long as the major media continues to loose audience and market share because of their "fake news" reporting or blatant bias...I'm cool with that.

boomer, I suspect you don't listen to him much, but I do and I find Limbaugh's Right wing presentation much more fact based and objective than anything I've previously listened to or watched in the major news media.

He does a much better job explaining both sides of a story than they do, even though he doesn't hide the fact that he is indeed on the Right.

He simply contrasts his beliefs with the Left, and his listeners are always free to make up their minds as to which side has more credibility. However my point is, he does not hide the Left or honestly explain their ideology as much as the major Media either hides or distorts the Right & it's ideology.

In the arena of ideas and the broadcast marketplace, his approach is much more popular and preferred than the main news media's offerings. His audience dwarfs theirs and continues to grow while theirs is smaller and continues to shrink as that is exactly as it should be in the free market available to news consumers.

The man actually said:

There are more Native Americans alive today than at any point in human history.

And:

There is more acres of forest land in the US now than when Columbus landed.

Real beacon of truth there.

He also fully explains "current services baseline budgeting" and how the Left funnels money from Unions into Democrat party operations. Something the Media NEVER explains.

Government public employee union corrpution, waste, fraud and abuse in federal spending is not "whinning" boomer. No more so than the Left constantly berating taxpayers for not paying their "fair share" or that we're being "greedy" asking for some form of tax relief as we see our money being squandered lining the pockets of corrupt bureaucrats or their friends on the Democrat Left in Government. (Republicans too)

May Kevin Arnold will claim he's got more of Trump's tax returns.

If I were Trump... I'd have people start leaking fake **** all over the place. **** that's easy to refute. Eventually the media will become so discredited that even when they do find something of substance.... no one will care.

Yes they do, and they continue to demand anyone making a dollar more than any one else pay even more. They're great at determining when someone else has "too much" or isn't paying their "fair share" but as I've posted in the past, not one of them demanding more from folks who earn more than them are voltunteering to send in one dime more than they are legally obligated to do. All Leftists itemize and claim tax deductions while whinning about the "rich" not paying their "fair share"...which usually means more than them.
