-djs were always in the pocket of a&r guys, the record companies and sponsors. *Nearly All* music until the internet was fed to you through a filter of what record companies and radio stations wanted you to buy.

The exceptions were college stations and the odd underground publication.

^you've always had to look for new stuff...its easier now than ever.

I have it from good authority that Rock and Roll will never die. But this sage wisdom also included the line that it was better to burn out than to fade away, so maybe the problem isn't Rock but the fact that people keep holding onto the past especially the older they get. Instead of getting tickets to see the Stones sing Satisfaction for the 80 millionth time, spend a few moments exploring some new music. For example, let me introduce you to Kentucky's own MojoThunder.

When all that Coldplay sounding **** was popular in the early 2000s?? That’s when mainstream rock lost its balls

There’s plenty of good new rock/punk/metal out there, but its days as a radio stalwart are gone.

Another factor is age. I’m an 80s kid/90s teen. My two favorite genres are metal (mostly thrash and traditional with a little glam mixed in) and rap. I find metal and rap from that era (80s for metal, 90s for rap) to be the best. Someone a decade older or younger than me would likely have a different opinion. Someone two decades older than me might think what I like is a bunch of “noise” and someone two decades younger than me probably doesn’t know who many of my favorite artists are.

Music is so subjective that opinions will vary dramatically.

But Garth did kill country music.
Garth's early stuff was more country than his later stuff for sure and he may have maimed country music but this jerkwad put the bullet in it's head.

And then this midget dug it up and defiled its corpse.

I have no idea how this guy has fans. He is awful. It's like some studio was in a lab and said, "How can we make like a shittier Jimmy Buffett but have him look different?"
