When was our last stunningly improbable ....

We've never had what I would call a stunning road win simply because we've always been so good and when we were bad we didn't beat anyone that great on the road. Significant wins, yes.
I also don't think a win saturday would be stunning...significant yes, but not stunning.

I don't know if I would call them stunningly improbable, but Michigan in 13 was kind of surprising. NU was a 6 point dog and Tommy was a freshman. That would be one that comes to mind. In 05 NU was a 16 dog in the last game of the year at Colorado and went out and drilled CU 30-3 another surprising one I guess.
I'm sure it's not the most recent one, but Penn State "beat us" in 1982 en route to a "national championship." We played them in the very first game the next season, the inaugural Kickoff Classic, and crushed them 44-6. Penn State's only points were on a late 4th quarter garbage TD (extra point blocked). Total domination.
That may also have been the inaugural NU Revenge Tour.
The game was played in East Rutherford, NJ, so basically a home game for PSU. That was rather shocking, though I suspect we were favored to win that game by a few points.

Colorado 2005 was somewhat improbable at the time. It obviously was to their fans. Colorado still won the north division and went to the B12 championship game.

I'm going with 2002 Texas A&M. NU was 5-3 and trending down (would finish 7-7), and had lost their last 4 true road games. We were down 31-14 midway through the 3rd qtr and Kyle Field was rocking. David Horne had the best game of his career. NU had 381 rushing yards, most against A&M in over 30 years.

This is the game that came to mind when I saw this thread. I can still remember how happy I was after this game. Funny thing is, most Husker fans don't give Callahan credit for anything but he did have some good victories. Then 2007 happened.
2010 @ Oklahoma State and 2011 @ Penn State, after the Sandusky news broke, are probably the best road wins in recent years. Not sure either were in the Top 10 or if we were even very big underdogs to be honest.
We almost pulled a huge upset @ Texas Tech in 2008. Ganz and the O were on fire and we were controlling the clock, then they hit Crabtree on a bomb deep in their own territory on 4th down. Heartbreaker.

That Texas Tech game actually went to OT. They had the ball first and missed the extra point, giving us a chance to win with a TD and extra point. But Joe Ganz threw an INT on our possession. They were ranked #7 at the time, I believe.
A note on Colorado 2005 too-Bill Callahan got the Gatorade dump after the game, which prompted sideline reporter Suzy Shuster to ask him "was that the most gratifying dump you've ever had?"

I've always been partial to 27 4th quarter points against Missouri in 2009. Maybe Missouri wasn't that great that year, but they had pounded us pretty badly the previous two years.
I have no idea what "yolo" means, but I hear it all the time in regards to poor QB decisions in the passing game. Anyone care to enlighten me?
That was fun. Niles Paul going beast mode in a hurricane and Suh throwing Gabbert around like a rag doll.
I was at that game and talk about a roller coaster of emotions that didn't end until Clint Finley intercepted a ball in the end zone with less than 2 (3?) minutes left to play. Best road win I've been to, when you combine how fun the game was and how nice the A&M fans were.
Michigan state with Tay tay.. great comeback and huge drive in the end with a last second td pass to win it
@Wisconsin is improbable in 2016?
At USC in 2006 was improbable.
At Oklahoma in 2008 was improbable.
At Texas Tech in 2008 was improbable.
At Missouri in 2007 was improbable.
Winning at a Wisconsin team that scored 17 points on Iowa or 24 points on Georgia State while only scoring 18 offensive touchdowns total all season is not improbable.
The tone of our fan base is odd.

At Washington in 97. The week before the game, Huskers were coming off of a very unimpressive win against UCF at home. They were #2, Huskers were #7. Huskers weren't suppose to win that game.
I think that is possibly aimed at me, and I understand...but outside of the fact that we are 7-0, I think every other factor points to wiscy...home game, strong defense, motivation to beat us, AND we are pretty beat up...so, while I DIDN'T say it at the first, I think a win this weekend is improbable...but I'd love to be wrong....

Wisconsin this weekend is not improbable by anymeans, and were we to win, it would certainly not be stunning, hell we are ranked higher, what is improbable, or stunning about that?
I will be very happy if we do win, but not stunned were we to accomplish it.
