Quick glance suggests seven weeks into the 1968-69 season.

It is great, but if this keeps up, Duke will start sniffing around for Collins to eventually replace Coach K.

Quick glances don't tell the whole story. That '68-'69 season I witnessed first hand as a freshman. We were going into Big Ten play after having lost just one non-con game to Stanford, and were ranked #11, just behind Illinois. We played Illinois in early January at McGaw Hall on network TV. And we lost to them in overtime. From that game on, we seemed to lose our mojo and ended up 6 and 8 in the Big Ten. I'm still trying to erase the memory of that season from my brain. It was also the beginning of the end of the NU coaching career of Larry Glass.

This year's team, and coaches, have a much better trajectory.

Seem to remember Glass took over from Bill Rohr, right? He was a dam good coach and wonder why he left.

68-69 was my senior year. Glass was there for my four years (and my friends and I actually thought he did a poor job particularly in my last two years). 68-69 was two years after the UofI slush fund scandal which I happily recall resulted in NU students waving dollar bills at their team before we soundly beat them. Meanwhile I am disappointed that MSU is ranked above us with 2 losses. Didn't we beat them????? OTOH pleased to see we are ranked above Dook and my other alma mater Virginia.
