This is what MB is working on. Now, picture how programs in our conference are already preparing to sidestep the new rules. That is what I mean by pushing the envelope in more explicit terms.
This would be a huge step in the right direction. A salary cap and some limits on transferring would bring college basketball much closer to what it should be.

That being said, no way they ever vote to reduce player incomes and cost themselves tax dollars.

Maybe the SEC will forget about basketball and become weak so lame posters like SonofSaul will be happy and live life in his happy little echo chamber.

I say two years. Look, we have a crap ton of quad one wins this year and Pope managed that with a slapshot team that he put together in two or three months. When the team was healthy we were one of the most feared teams in the game. Give him a couple of years to repair our image and I think players will flock here.

I'm going a different direction......I fear Pope has us heading to be the Sacramento Kings (circa Weber, Divac, Stojakovic, etc...) as a style of bball that will be solid but not elite.

- Tonight for example, I think UK was not going to beat Bama regardless, but why did he think a tempo game was a good idea? We tried to go up and down with them and while we withstood at times in first half, we still down 9 at half.
- Why not plan a rock fight game plan, pack in zone and give Bama 3pt line but make it a shooting contest. Instead, Pope has our guards hedging screens and giving up lane after lane for rim runs by their bigs and our guards going over screens, etc.... Just a defensive poor plan.

I've seen way too much of this style of defense/toughness to boot in year 1...I hope we have not hired an "outscore" them coach with defense being optional. And I think that will end in UK being top 20-ish but not top 5 ish (which is teh goal)

Bama, auburn, Florida and Tennessee are all losing major pieces of their rosters. These aren’t just top 4 teams for this year, these are some of the best teams these programs have had in their entire history. Grad transfers, seniors, best frosh they’ve ever recruited, etc.

Year two is big for pope, the league will be a lot more even and he has time to get guys. Hopefully he’s understood the type of player needed for this league. Pope has the next two years to show what he’s got.

We have a top 5 NIL budget and not landed a high rated recruit outside of kids that live in Kentucky. We will have to get much better with NIL if we can keep competing.
I think Pope is saving his spots for the portal. Each team really has only one or two Freshman who are major contributors. We will have at least two next year who can get to the rim which is something none of o

If Golden at Florida can have a national championship contender in his third year, Pope should, or better, be able to do the same here.
Well...we beat Florida this year when we still had three of our top four guards. We Beat UT twice with them being only partially available. We beat Dook. We lost a two possession game with Bama while having three of our top four guards available. If this team is injury free, we're already there.

I voted "never" because I don't think anyone will ever dominate the SEC like UK used to dominate it.

I heard this same stuff when Alabama won 4 or 5 SEC tournaments in a row in the early 80’s.

“The days of UK dominating this conference are over”

How did that work out?

There’s always been a school pop up here and there for a mini run.

Alabama, LSU, Fl, Ark, Auburn etc.

Even the Miss schools have had a minute.

But the fact remains that UK has won more SEC titles than all the other SEC schools combined.
