. He’s taking a chance on his future playing on a roster where the pieces do not fit.
How is his playing with this group impacting his future in ANY way? The NBA drafts on physical attributes, skills and potential. He could play with 5th graders this year and still be a lottery pick.
If anything GMs are looking at him coming back mid year off an injury to help his team as a huge positive and him as a good culture guy for their franchise in a world full of “me first” guys.

I'll take some crow, not necessarily because of Quaintance. I never said he'd never play but I did wonder when it would be, realizing that if he came too late, the season might be lost already. (And it was close to that- thank goodness we won the IU game without him)

But I will take some crow about my negativity toward this team and its prospects in general. I've been saying we have a bunch of role players and 6th men and that the team might never beat a good team. I did also say I truly hope the team proves me wrong on that, and they have proved me wrong. Not that long ago, I predicted UK to finish the non-conference with a 7-6 record and it's now looking like it will be 9-4, which is a HUGE difference. So, give me a big helping of crow, GLADLY.

People post what they think and what they think shows how rational they are, what kind of fan they are and why Cal called them crazies. Sorry, but it's time to own it if you were a fire Pope guy. Ya'll blamed him for everything....Said he wasn't cut out for this, couldn't coach, can't recruit and that he couldn't win at this level.

News flash, he just showed you are wrong.

73, you need to bring back your old " The Dude Abide"s avatar.
I couldn't find it anywhere on the web or my PC photo collection. I may have an idea, but you're right, if I change it back I might be more recognizable (although these small little circle avatars might make it tough).

Ahhh, but Pope recruited and signed JQ! So, just say it. You bashed him and you were wrong. But in a round a bout way, you did just admit that he did in fact sign good players. I do wish Lewis hadn't de-committed though. We would be looking much better even without JQ.

But man....JQ is gonna be a hoss, isn't he?

These are always stupid posts and I never understand the motivation from those that make them, but I'll jump in.

I said he would never play. If he plays and continues playing for the rest of the year, I'm fine with being wrong. Methinks you'll get the same answer from everyone you're trying to fish out with this moronic baiting post (again, what's the point, and what joy do you get from responses?).
What joy did you get from saying he would never play...I will never understand those posts

I had no joy. I had answered a poll where someone asked if he'd play or not, and why. I just answered someone's question a month ago like others. My prediction (not joy) was that he'd not be physically ready. I didn't go all "he's going to Sharpe us".

I respect the heck out of the kid now. He could have easily justified sitting. He has draft stock to protect still. Coming off a major knee injury and surgery. Team looked dead in the water. Why risk it?

It would have certainly been more justifiable than that garbage that Sharpe and his camp pulled.

Kudos to JQ.

He hasn’t done anything to prove anybody wrong. Get to the sweet 16 or win the SEC. Land a top high school player. This is Kentucky.

You're one of his worst critics. Just admit it and get over it. The way the team played today and the players that Pope recruited...make you look really stupid.
Congratulations on your national championship, Tom Crean. You said Pope proved everyone wrong. This is Kentucky. Win the SEC or go to the sweet 16 or better. Land a top 5 recruit.

People have a right to be concerned after the Sharpe incident. And if we’re being honest, as good as JQ was today, I think most of us would’ve rather had someone like Yaxel come in at the beginning of the year and be an immediate impact instead of struggling with JQ being out for almost half a season.

Begs to question if we even sign JQ if he were healthy. We gotta get elite guys without some kind of baggage attached to it. We’re Kentucky, damn it. Whether that’s Pope’s fault or JMI, it’s gotta be fixed.

I didn’t think JQ would play. Kudos for him for doing so. He’s taking a chance on his future playing on a roster where the pieces do not fit.
Just about everything in that last sentence is wrong. JQ wasn’t going to be drafted in the lottery if he “just waited”, no way. I don’t care what the projections say, there would’ve just been too much concern by GM’s on if his injury was completely healed. If he plays like he did yesterday? Top three pick is in play, so he’s definitely helping his future.

Secondly, how the hell can you say “the pieces don’t fit” on this team when we’ve literally not had ONE GAME with all the pieces of the team in place. What we’ve had are role players trying to do more than they’re capable of and it’s been ugly.
If Lowe can somehow manage to have his shoulder not fall off (I admit that is a big if) and if JQ is even close to what we saw yesterday, we’re a different animal. Oweh can go back to filling lanes and finishing at the rim off of Lowe’s penetration. Chandler and Cam can set up in the corners and get OPEN threes. One or two of Mo, Garrison and Moreno can play alongside JQ and make us extremely difficult to score against at the rim. Aberdeen and JJ can do what they were supposed to do - fill in and contribute when needed on a game by game basis.

As great as JQ was yesterday, Lowe is 100% the key to our success. If he goes down again, we’re in trouble. Just baffling we didn’t have a better #2 pg option with all we “spent” in the portal.

This! The only thing I may question from above is JQ and Moreno playing together. I know JQ can stay with his man outside defending the 4 man, but I want him staying near the basket 99.9% of the time.....Moreno too. I sure hope we can figure out a way to play them together.

Funny how all the “let’s let the season play out” people are so quick to yell “we won a game so eat crow” 😂🤡
Yeah, except its was more than that. The pieces all came together and we were what we hoped for, finally. We still need to keep working on a backup PG but we look like a team now.

The sky doesn't seem to be falling today.

Not to mention, lots of people said we'd lose yesterday. We didn't and its almost like some on here are upset by that.

Maybe a tad bit of an overreaction but it sure beats the hyper negative crap that has sucked the life out of this place of late.

Who would have thought that beating an unranked Indiana team and a four loss St John's team was enough to eclipse the four losses, including two blowouts, that we've had.

The fan base has nothing to prove to Mark Pope. It's not our job to show our competency to him or to other fans. It's Pope's job to show that he can get it done here. As of this moment, there's a lot of work to be done in regard, particularly with recruiting and beating the elite teams.

The hyper negative stuff has existed on this message board because up until about 10 days ago, the team was playing to a level that warranted hyper negative responses. What do you expect people to do when you go through a 3-week stretch where you're lose to everybody with a pulse, including multiple blowouts, and no recruits to establish hope for the future? It doesn't seem like you understand what a sports message board is for.

This isn't a wedding shower. It's high level sports, and this is one of the places that we congregate to talk about those sports. It's going to get negative in that type of environment when it's warranted.

Get used to it.

Pope recruited and signed JQ, so this roster looks a lot better this morning.

Also, there are still 6 of the top 10 players for next season uncommitted and 9 of the top 19. IOW, most of the very best players are still uncommitted. We'll have to wait to see how it works out. If Pope had signed lower rated prospects, some would complain about the talent he gets. But we're involved with some top end, uncommitted recruits...and hes catching flack for it. Can't seem to please some people. Maybe ya just like to *****...err complain

You know, the easiest way for this message board to come together is for Pope to do something very important that he was hired to do: keep winning games.

There's your solution.

Agreed. We're improving. Still got a ways to go but we're headed the right way.

SJ is a physical team and we were the more physical team yesterday. That was impressive and a big change from what we have been.

When JQ takes the floor? Man up. Just who said he would never play
I thought he would play. I do not buy into the conspiracies. However, I will eat crow because I did not think we would beat St. John's. I had Turkey for Thanksgiving and crow before Christmas. It does not taste to bad either. I will be glad to eat crow the rest of the year. I just want the Cats to win, win and win!
And just for the record, I do not put too much stock into anything Pitino says. He is a great basketball coach, but he also compared Jared Prickett to Larry Bird too. He likes to hear himself talk and he is full of ....

The "hyper negative crap" lately has been the team losing in uninspired ways to beatable teams, not the fans reacting to said debacles.

It's not our job to sing kumbaya and pretend nothing is going wrong when it is. Calling people out for rightly expressing concerns or displeasure once things momentarily turn around is arrogant and shortsighted.

There’s no need for a long drawn out attempt to justify why you were wrong. That’s not what crow eating is. Just admit you were wrong and move along. Eat the crow man. Eat it!
