I hated the way our fans treated a home state kid with an awful line and wr's who quit.

But his accuracy and pocket presence are not high level, simply doesnt have the intangibles for the next level.

Those clamoring that Barker was the next Dan Marino wasting away on the sidelines look like chumps too.

Neither is/was a good option. Surprising with the hype both had coming in. It's the reverse "KY Effect"

The amount of ignorance about the position of quarterback relating to the team that he is with is painfully apparent here.

I think Boston College plays Clemson in about 3 weeks. They've had two conference games and played a UMASS team that wasn't all that bad. They actually beat UMASS by more than Florida did. I'm not sure UK would fare all that well against Boston College to be honest.

Should UK loss to South Carolina this week then the season is truly over, but what's worse is that it will show just how bad the state of the program is.

On the other hand a strong performance by the Cats and solid win will likely mean a victory over Vandy as well and we're 2-2.

It's becoming a cliche, but this may be the most important game of Stoops's head coaching career.

Boston college lost to Georgia Tech by 3
Georgia Tech beats Vandy 38 to 7.
South Carolina beats Vandy 10-7.

Neither Towles nor Barker are SEC-level quarterbacks, just like Morgan Newton and Mossakowski weren't, despite the stars.

Didn't you also say the following as well?

"I don't know if Louisville will beat FSU or not, but I expect a competitive game."

"I can't imagine that we won't be in command of this one for all four quarters."
(Referring to KY's last game.)

I would suggest you make a few accurate predictions before you start commenting on who you think were or weren't SEC level QB's.

Towles is not a good QB, certainly not good enough to play in the NFL. Having Barker start last year obviously didn't help, though. We just didn't/don't have an elite QB on the roster yet.

And Towles still sucks.
THat's a bit over the top. Towles was not a top level QB and was failing to progress. Still he was reasonably good. I still thought last year we should try Barker just to see what would happen. I'm clearly not one of the Towles gang. Nor was I a hater. The change at QB needed to happen though. I wish him well but we needed to move on.

I watched him do his usual blaming the WR on short passes because he threw it too low and wide.....against UMass. The Color analyst said "Towels can throw a nice long ball...but his short ball is just horrible."

I think everyone expected a competitive game.

I hope the kid does well. He was solid in the first two games. Had the same type of game against VT that he had last year against Florida. roller coaster ride!

and I am not bashing Towles; but rather the posters who "all-in" on Towles going pro and being a 3rd round pick

Mechanically he had a weird arm motion with short or underneath throws but I hope the kids performs well at BC. Can't understand how he didn't go to an Ohio school :cheers2:

Same here, totally different throwing motion on short passes.

I swear it was different to the flat than on slants and way different on long passes which he did very well with.

Because of his excellent speed, if Towles has a future in the NFL, it might be as a tight end. I can see him playing in the CFL, though.
