Seeing all the recent threads with questions about how to watch the basketball Cats this season, I wanted to gather all the relevant broadcast/streaming info and put it here in one place. The games this season are all being broadcast on either regular over-the-air network TV (ABC or CBS), a subscription channel (ESPN, SECN, etc.), or a complimentary streaming platform (SECN+). The same viewing options apply to the remaining UK football games. The info below was gathered from reviewing the basic plans on all the providers’ websites. I do acknowledge that there may be promos or discounts from select providers in certain instances that may be better than those listed below. Also, many games are also streamed live on standard YouTube and some YouTube channels do post full UK games within only an hour or two of their completion … so there are many ways to watch the games. Note: Prices shown below are valid as of Oct. 31st.

ESPN has made some changes to their app and their streaming options recently. You can get all UK games broadcast on any ESPN network or platform with a stand-alone subscription to ESPN Unlimited without any other cable or streaming service subscription (all basketball games except UK vs. St. John’s on 12/20). Here are details of ESPN’s recent streaming changes:

  • ESPN App > The new app is ESPN’s dedicated streaming platform for everything ESPN offers. It is available for iOS devices, Android devices, streaming devices, and gaming consoles. The app itself does not give you access to any game broadcasts, it’s only the delivery platform for ESPN’s various streaming channels.
  • ESPN Select (formerly ESPN+) > Lowest-cost stand-alone ESPN subscription option (no cable or streaming plan required) that includes all the former ESPN+ content, but no ESPN live broadcast channels. This stand-alone package is $11.99/month and DOES NOT INCLUDE any Kentucky games.
  • ESPN Unlimited > New premium-tier stand-alone ESPN subscription option (no cable or streaming plan required) that includes all the former ESPN+ content and all ESPN live broadcast channels and any complimentary streaming platforms. This stand-alone package is $29.99/month and DOES INCLUDE all Kentucky games broadcast by any ESPN channel or platform (ESPN, SECN, SECN+, etc.).
  • Link > ESPN.com
In addition to the stand-alone ESPN option, there are many other cable and streaming services that will give you access to UK games.

  • Broadcast Network Games > UK games on broadcast channels (CBS, ABC, ESPN, SECN, etc.) are available on any subscription service that includes those broadcast channels.
  • SECN+ Games > UK games streamed on SECN+ are available to subscribers of any service that includes the SEC Network. A subscription service that includes SECN or the ESPN Unlimited plan above are THE ONLY WAY to access UK games on SECN+. SECN+ games are streamed exclusively on the new ESPN app … you will need to log in to the new ESPN app with credentials from a cable or streaming service account that includes the SEC Network to watch.
Popular subscription streaming options that include the SEC Network and/or access to ESPN Unlimited … sorted in order of least expensive plan required to see all UK games:

  • Fubo TV > Fubo Sports + News is the least expensive Fubo TV package that includes local broadcast channels (except for NBC), ESPN channels, and the SEC Network. Fubo Sports + News and is $55.99/month. It also includes access to ESPN Unlimited.
  • Link > Fubo TV
  • Sling TV > Sling Blue + Sports Extra is the least expensive Sling TV package that includes local broadcast channels, ESPN channels, and the SEC Network. Sling Blue + Sports Extra is $56.99/month. Sling TV plans do not include access to ESPN Unlimited … so it would have to be purchased separately.
  • Link > Sling TV
  • YouTube TV > YouTube’s Base Plan is the least expensive YTTV package that previously included local broadcast channels, ESPN channels, and the SEC Network. YouTube’s Base Plan is $82.99/month (there is currently a 3-month promo for $72.99). NOTE: YTTV Base Plan is listed here for comparison’s sake … until the carrier dispute with Disney is settled, ABC, ESPN channels (including SECN and SECN+), and ESPN Unlimited are not available with a YTTV subscription. It’s not clear if access to ESPN Unlimited will be included with a YTTV subscription if/when the carrier dispute is settled.

  • Hulu + Live TV > Hulu + Live TV is the least expensive Hulu package that includes local broadcast channels, ESPN channels, and the SEC Network. Hulu + Live TV is $89.99/month (there is currently a 3-month promo for $64.99). It also includes access to ESPN Unlimited.
  • Link > Hulu + Live TV
  • DirecTV Streaming > DirecTV Streaming - Entertainment is the least expensive DirecTV Streaming package that includes local broadcast channels, ESPN channels, and the SEC Network. Hulu + Live TV is $89.99/month (current 3-month promo is $49.99 for 1st month and $79.99 for months 2 & 3). It also includes access to ESPN Unlimited.

Dude, this is good stuff. I’m just picturing someone my parents age (I’m 50) reading this and their head swimming.

PSA…If you have elderly people in your life that love the Cats and want to watch them, buy them the subscription and show them how to use it. I’d buy the ESPN unlimited plan and one of those fancy antennas that get the locals. Show them how to navigate it. That’s gotta beat the hell out of a cheese basket. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Does anyone have experience with Fubo? I’ve never used their service or tried it.
Yes ... I use Fubo and have for several years now. I dropped YouTube TV a few years ago when they had 2 carrier disputes similar to the current one within about a year and a half timeframe and it interrupted my sports channel access. I am completely satisfied with Fubo service and have never had a carrier dispute with Fubo. Their channel lineup, interface, streaming quality, available features, etc. are easily comparable to anything YouTube TV has (from my memory of YTTV from several years ago). And for what I use (the Sports and News package) ... it's less expensive than anything YTTV or other services have with comparable channels. Also, at the time, Fubo had a feature that none of the other services had ... people in different cities could stream using the same account credentials .. meaning that my mother who does not live in the same city as I do could also use my account. Not sure if other services allow this or not now ... but they didn't at the time.

I signed up for the free 5 day trial. Plan on canceling it after/if yt gets the channels back soon. The guide is not as good as yt but everything else seems fine.

Appreciate the indepth review. I loved YouTubeTV when it was half the price but I just don’t have time to watch tv anymore. So I got it for Kentucky but since the dispute I canceled it. I’ll gladly pay less to watch.

Thanks! I didn’t know Fubo offered the sports and news package for that price. I did the free trial. May keep it even if YouTubetv adds espn back
