I was at work in Frankfort. We started watching on the television after the first plane hit. After work I drove back to Lexington and went straight to my parents house to check on them. That whole day and especially once i got to my parents was so vivid and seemed to slow down. I'll never forget that day.

The funny thing is one of my sisters had a HS friend that wrote for our local paper. She wrote an article about my sisters being okay, even quoted my dad multiple times. Didn't mention me once......
You must have broken her heart in some manner.

****...that was crazy.

Royal Lex, watching the Today show before class. Someone said a helicopter hit WTC and then saw second one live...if I am remember correctly.
I was right down the road on State Street. Had a class, went and the professor said go home and stay home so we did and proceeded like everyone else to watch the news for the next two weeks.

Scott Pelleys newest book has the first chapter on his experience in downtown NYC that day and it’s chilling.

I was in the Atlanta airport. Ended up getting out, renting a car and driving home.

I was in the air flying with Delta when the first one happened. We landed in Myrtle Beach not knowing what happened. I headed to AVIS to rent a car and a young man came running by screaming people are dying. Then the police started putting yellow tape around the airport and said the airport is closed.

AVIS gave me a car and I started back home. All flights were cancelled for a few days and when flights started back I caught an early flight to Orlando. It was one of the big jets , Boeing 777, and we had less than 10 passengers on the plane.

At the end of the week I was in New York at the scene of the downed Twin Towers working insurance claims. One of them turned out to be 1.2 Billion in damages. Making out the Proof of Loss was mind boggling to me.

In my 6th grade social studies class. My teacher in that class was in the reserves and deployed months later.

Junior year at UK.

Woke up and turned on the TV to see the second plane crash.

Went to classes that day and it was just the strangest, most somber time on campus.

I was working with a couple of other people on a computer problem in a small office away from others. One left and came back telling us about the second plane and he had already flipped the "we're under attack" switch. He was seriously freaking out. I told him I didn't think it was an attack because they would have targeted the White House or Pentagon, so just relax. He left again and immediately came back to tell us about the Pentagon plane. That flipped my switch.

Disney World. Surreal experience seeing the parks close and everyone filing out in an eerie silence as word got around to what was happening.

B&E Building in class. Walked out of class to see the 2nd plane hit on a TV in the hallway. Crazy day that's for sure. Specifically remember Lexington that morning as blue sky as I can remember.

We had an apt and two Pakistani guys lived below us. Swear we had a crown vic sitting outside the apt the rest of the week watching these guys.

Will always remember that evening no planes in the sky since all flights were canceled. Saw one and thought it was weird. Later on read a book and US flew Bin Landen's family out of the US that night from Texas. Randomly stopped in Lexington before leaving the States. Had to be it.

Sitting in a classroom. Had a substitute teacher that day and remember her taking a phone call and saying “oh my god, that is terrible”. She then turned on the tv after she hung up and we watched the second plane crash live. Never forget it.

High school, sophomore year. Walked into second period and someone told me someone bombed the Pentagon. Told him "you're on crack," but then the teacher turns the tv on and we spend most of the rest of the day either watching TV, or having our old priest religion teacher tell us we're at war now. Then my Spanish teacher told us no tv we're doing class and made us have a normal class.

ditto, was a sophomore in high school. My uncle works in the pentagon and was late for work as he and my aunt were having a big fight that morning. It saved his life.

At work. Watched some of it on TV with some of my staff - including the 2nd plane hit. It was definitely surreal. Had a meeting later that day with my boss at the time, a retired General, who had already spoken with Pentagon officials about retribution.

It was a sad day. My grandmother lost her friend (who was in her late 30’s at the time) in the second tower. She had two kids who were orphaned that day (single mom).

Some friends and I were on this subject earlier, and I was just curious.

I was scheduled to start a teaching job on 9/12 and got called in a day earlier a little after 8 am to sub. As I strolled into the school a little before 9, I wasn't aware that anything was even going on. I walked into my dad's classroom and saw him and everyone else staring at a television, and then then Flight 175 hit the South Tower.
At home. I was getting ready for class; I had decided to go back to college and had the tv on while I dressed.
