That is a GREAT question. What did Ray see?

No coordinator position, no HC experience, 20 years as a position coach.

Was it a good interview? That would be one helluva interview.

Was it simply as shallow and as sad as Ray thinking "hey, it worked for Clemson, let's give it a shot".
I think Ray, as a former coach, was greatly swayed by the opinions of former players.

Injuries wrecked em. Look at his trajectory everywhere else hes been. I will say, with his system he needs a particular type of QB which he doesnt have this year. Sellers would have been perfect. That said, hes also at Liberty who probably shouldn’t be FBS, especially in the NIL/portal era. They have crazy strict student life rules. I think they thought they would be like another BYU but they belong in FCS.
I have a degree from Liberty. My son got two degrees from there. Their student life rules aren't crazy or oppressively strict. May seem that way at places where anything goes, but Liberty's rules are reasonable, I would say good, and definitely not crazy.

They aren't Bob Jones strict but they are much stricter than pretty much any other FBS campus.

I think the rule against premarital sex is sort of funny. Having a rule against pre marital sex among college students is like having a rule against the wind blowing or the tide going in and out.
