This question has been gnawing at me as much as anything else this season. Over the past quarter century, an entire generation, we are one Anthony Davis away from irrelevance on the national stage. As a fanbase, we’ve always fallen back on “most wins”, “8 titles”, etc. Those things matter, but right now matters too. It feels like about half a dozen programs have blown past us in that timespan. I’m not sure how long that one 2012 title can carry so much weight.
Fortunately, we are a good hire away from being back to the promised land. However, and most unfortunately, I’m not convinced we have the leadership to make that hire if / when it’s needed.
