Where's the hype

For LW North and Bradley tonight? Both teams are 4-0 and are rolling. At the very least it should have been in the Pick Em of games but I haven't seen any articles about it. This matchup could determine who winds up winning the SWSC Red. I know LW West and Thornton are playing tonight too but I think this game is going to be better

Big night in the Red for sure. Perhaps the red is stronger than the Blue this year?

Unless the game is in the Chicago Catholic League, ESCC, DVC, or West Suburban it won't get much pub on this board. Not saying games from the MSL, North Suburban, NIC-10, Fox Valley, or CPL don't get discussed, but not to that level.

It very well may be. HF is far and above the best team in the area, but I think LW North and LW West are on par with LW East. North beat Sandburg who is the new darling of the Blue. Bolingbrook couldn't take care of business there. Thornton and Bradley are undefeated, albeit against weak competition but I think they would beat Stagg, Lockport and Joliet West. The Red has A LOT of depth

And I think that's wrong. There's a lot of good football in the south suburbs and they all, particularly LW North, deserves all the attention it can get. In a couple months you won't be able to discuss them

Then come on here and talk about it and don't complain. We talk about the teams we follow and games we go watch.

As a big fan of the SWSC, I can't agree with you more. Both the Bradley/LWN and Thornton/LWW will say volumes as how this conference may play out this year.

Notes:
LWW had trouble with Bloom (down 6 - 0 at half) and Thornton is much bigger and better than Bloom
Thornton has only allowed 6 points this season but has not faced an O-Line like LWW has
LWN has played the best non-conference schedule of all these teams (Richards and Sandburg) and are playing with a chip on their shoulder as the school is being closed
Bradley has the biggest home field advantage of any of these schools (Penalty Yardage LWN 160 - Bradley 30)

My picks:

LWW 21 Thornton 20
LWN 35 - Bradley 28

Perhaps one reason why there hasn't been the sort of hype you think there should be is that, of the eight games played so far by both schools, only one has been against a team that has won more than one game this season and that one team is 2-2.

But, hey, beauty is definitely in the eye of the beholder around here. So, give this game your best spin and hype as much as you want.

Ramblin,

If you are talking about the LWW/Thornton game, you are correct. Only Thornton has played a team that is 2 - 2 (Morgan Park). When talking about the LWN/Bradley game as Mizzou was doing, you are incorrect. As I mentioned previously, LWN has played Sandburg (3 -1) and Richards (2 - 2)

Yes, I was looking at LWW and Thornton, but, really, B-B's schedule through week 4 has been somewhat of a cakewalk. Just like LWW, B-B has played no team with more than one win.

So you think LWN & LWW are on par with LWE? and you also feel HF is a the best in the south? O yeah and Sanburg is the Darlings of the Blue? Interesting. I suppose East should just forfeit the game in 2 weeks. Did you know East has owned HF winning every year since 2004 except a close game in 2013. Never count out a team that's made the playoffs every year since its existence.
Go East!

LW East has always been the best of the four LW's historically but this year I think that if North or West played them it would come down to the wire and who wins would be a toss up (that's why I'm hoping North is 7A this year so the committee makes that game happen). Not dogging East at all, I just think very highly of the other Lincoln-Ways and Thornton now (did not see that upset coming at all).

As far as HF is concerned I think you'd have to say they've breezed through all their competition so far, and for my money I think they have the best combo of depth and talent of any team in the south therefore making them the best team. Can't wait to see the matchup with East in a couple of weeks.

And Sandburg? I think they've been given a little too much credit so far, me calling them the "darlings" was sarcastic. Said credit is evidenced by these new rankings Edgy put out today, with North still on the outside looking in despite beating Sandburg by two touchdowns on the road.

I guess we'll measure Sandburg/LW East as a measuring stick to see where North stacks up against East. I personally think the talent is on par with them, coaching a different story, but again, I hope we are able to see that matchup

i don't know. I've seen LWW play twice this year (about half games). They appear smaller than previous years. LWE meanwhile looks like they always do...and lost a 1 point game to a highly touted OPRF. LWW or LWN haven't played anything close to a squad like OPRF...

just my thoughts.

I hope they play East you will see the talent difference. No way they are on par with East. As for HF and all there talent, we hear the same thing every year. My point is East knows them well and they have had very good success playing them. I am not saying East will beat them this year but certainly they have a chance and will give them a tough game.

You've stated you live in Columbus, OH. I'm curious. How do you know LW North's talent is not on par with LW East's? Have you seen both teams play?

I haven't stated that I live in Columbus, OH, I live in Columbia, Missouri. I know North has a lot of talent because I've been in the locker room with a lot of them.

I've watched each game or game film since 2009 up until this year from each North team. I attended the week one matchup against Richards as well. I've seen every highlight that a North football posted on their Hudl.

This senior class murdered about every opponent they had as underclassmen and there were several of those who were contributors on a very good team last year. Jaylin Branch is a special talent in particular, and Drew Slager catches literally anything thrown his way. And this defense has been pretty rock solid since the second half of week one lead by Dave Lux.

As far as East? I watch what I can on the Cube. I know they're very good and extremely well coached. I know they'll be in the mix as always. I just feel like everyone is acting like if North played East this year it'll be like their 08 and 09 match ups when they won by 40+. You all can't see this being a good game and going down to the wire?

Maybe I should have waited to say what I did until after East plays Sandburg, I just feel like we're all selling North a little bit short. I know who's in that locker room and there are some damn good players

North and East will be one school next year. It really doesn't matter because they don't play each other and they won't in they playoffs due to different classifications...

Is this some sour grapes from the board decision to close North?

BTW Corey was an East parent for a long time and still has a lot of friends in Frankfort. He knows football around here.

Not sure how you can say they won't play each other with such certainty since LWN is the largest school in 6A right now and was in 7A playoffs last year. Kind of depends upon who qualifies.

Actually
No I haven't been to the games since I am now in Ohio. I have many friends who I still talk to in Frankfort and usually
Obtain good information about the Lincolnway schools. My point was until the other LW schools show any success against East how can you put them on par with them. Maybe if we're lucky East & North will play each other before they close North? Then will see how it plays out. Regardless North will join East after they close.
