i think it’s a foregone conclusion that if OU beats WV then either beats or loses to Texas that at worse OU lands in a NY6 bowl. If they win out and fail to get in the playoffs by divine intervention then we know it will be the Sugar opposite either UGA or LSU.

However if OU loses to WV and Tx beats the Mounties in the B12 CG does OU still get a NY6 Bowl since Tx would head to the Sugar and with WV having beaten OU?

My thought would be that maybe all 3 end up in a NY6 in that scenario. It would be hard pressed for the committee to explain leaving out a 2 loss OU in a NY6 for a 3 loss SEC team.

Who would have dreamed that Texas would still be in the CCG conversation at this point of the season. Yet they are almost a shoe in to play for the B12 Championship. This makes Friday’s just that more important. We need the opportunity to payback the Longhorns.

I don't believe OU can beat Texas now as this team is in such disarray defensively (both on and off the sidelines) and with Sermon's health up in the air. I want a win over West Virginia, but losing to them would be a mercy killing as far as I'm concerned.
Barely winning games against teams like Texas Tech, K-State, O-State, TCU, Baylor and Kansas is not impressive.
OU is, for all intents and purposes, only half of a team. No defense, only offense.

A one point win over WV & TX is good enough for me. I don't care how they accomplish it.

We have seen equal talent at OU jump up and beat a superior team. We have the individual talent to play several levels above what we saw on Saturday. They need to watch film of the Boz, Lehman, Calmus, Jones, Elrod and the many other OU greats on D. Fire'em up.

If not in the Top 4, I'm thinking OU/tOSU in the Rose Bowl or OU/LSU or UGA in the Sugar.

Wazzou will go to the Rose Bowl. They want a Pac 12 v Big 10 match up like old times. If we win out we get Georgia in the Sugar. If we beat WVU but lose in the Big XII champ game we go to Fiesta vs UCF. A two loss OU is still big bowl attraction.

If we are B12 champs we most likely go to the Sugar and play the loser of the Alabama- Georgia game.....unless Alabama loses and the committee can’t bare not having the Tide in playoffs so two SEC teams are in with Clemson and Notre Dame. Lol. Probably not going to happen but I wouldn’t put it pass them to screw another worthy team.

Not a doubt in my mind if Alabama goes into the sec title game without a loss and loses to Georgia then expect to see them both in the CFP.
No way they would keep a one loss bama team out.

I don't disagree with your statement about the defense being in disarray, but I believe they will pull out a win on Saturday and I for one can't wait for a rematch with the whorns. If we get the rematch, OU will destroy the whorns.

Can't buy into beating Texas in a rematch. We lost game one with all hands on deck and of course, an Ivy League defense that is an embarrassment to us all, especially those of us who followed the team since the Wilkinson era.
We can't tackle, we can't (or won't) pressure quarterbacks, we get burned almost every play against opponents' passing, teams like Kansas run through our front line easily....by OU standards, the defense in recent years is in a complete free fall.
And Texas will, as usual, give OU its best effort.
I've never felt in my 60 years of following this team that EVERY game is a potential loss because of a pathetic defense.
Riley, for me, still has much to prove as long as OU is devoid of playing defensive football.
If OU wins three more games this year, it will be 95% because of Murray. But I just don't see it.

I wish CTOkie was wrong but his assessment seems spot-on. I have never seen a Sooner defense so devoid of leadership at all positions. No player has seemed to step up and demand excellence, they just go through the motions.

I hope I'm wrong too.
But this team is like a sail boat that has lost its wind and now seems dead in the water....even with a 10-1 record. Three straight games of giving up 40 or more points says it all.

Well, I’ll go on record and say if we don’t win another game this year even 10 wins won’t keep it from being a ****** season and a very long winter. Now, I’m too damn old for anything like this to happen so I’m going to keep a very positive attitude.

How many games did B. Stoops HC w/ Mike Stoop's 2nd stop as the DC? 85
How many games did L. Riley HC w/ Mike Stoop's 2nd stop as the DC? 25
How many games did it take B. Stoops to fire Mike Stoops? 0, he couldn't do it
How many games did it take L. Riley to fire Mike Stoops? 20, he could, he did

Our defense sucks. The DC that has been haunting the Sooners for years has been fired. The defense has no current leadership. Yes.. it's an ugly situation and easy to quit on this team. But the hard part has been done. I have to give it up to Lincoln Riley for making a very difficult, very tough decision to fire the problem and start anew. I don't doubt him. I believe in him. He's put together thre best offense the Sooners have ever witnessed and I think he's on his way to hiring a DC that will compliment him. It's too early to start blaming & doubting Riley. Not yet. Not for me anyway. I'll give him two seasons with the new DC. After the 2020 season, I'll review Riley & the team's progress at that time.

The fact that we see no improvement in the D is a testament to how mediocre NcNeil is. Any number of good young D coaches could have turned up the volume on D nasty. McNeil is good for occupying a seat at the dinner table and Riley's lack of field marshal type presence is on display here.

Texas is about as lousy as the rest of us. Beaten by Maryland, WVU and Okie State. Could have lost to Tulsa and OU. OU had two turnovers, UT none. The Sugar Bowl will likely not be a fun place for a Big 12 team.

My choice would be to return to the scene of the crime last year & hose the b1g out of a Rose chance (assuming we're XII champs & #5 on the list) as we obviously don't deserve the final four, but that's probably just a pipe-dream...

I don't understand this fear of Texas? OU is 5-0 since losing to Texas and Texas is 3-2. Texas only beat Baylor by 5 points at Austin, lost to OSU, lost to WV in Austin, scored in the last minute to beat Tech, and finally played a complete game against ISU. Until the ISU game the Texas defense hasn't been much better than the OU defense.

OU had Sermon, Sutton and Pledger at RB, Gallimore at DT, Jackson at DE, Lamb at full strength and still lost to Texas.
If Ehlinger misses the game, I give OU a much better chance, but the defense has regressed (if that's possible) since October 6th.....and Buechele may be enough to beat OU. The team that lost to Texas was better than the team is now.

If OU wins out they're tied to the CFP or Sugar. No Fiesta. OU-Alabama was a preview of the SEC-Big 12 15 year Sugar tie in. OU beat Auburn in the deal. Ole Miss mauled Okie Lite in the deal. Last year the Sugar was tied up with 'Bama-Clemson in the CFP. This year and next it's SEC-Big 12 in the Sugar.
